Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of customer service or customer support experience, ideally in a high-volume or fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and effectively in written and verbal formats
- Experience providing high-touch customer support over chat, messaging, phone, or similar channels
- Technical aptitude and a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate new technology
- Experience using a CRM, ticketing system, or customer support platform such as Zendesk, Salesforce, Intercom, or similar tools
- Familiarity with common tax forms and concepts, with the ability to learn and communicate tax-related information clearly to customers
- Proficiency with digital tools including customer portals, secure document sharing, and online communication platforms
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple customer conversations and priorities at once
- Self-starter mindset—comfortable with change, learning by doing, and excited to help shape the future of the tax industry
Desirable
- Experience preparing tax returns, especially in a high-volume tax preparation environment
- Experience working for a tax preparation company or tax-focused organization
- Prior experience in a tax, accounting, or financial services support environment
- Experience supporting customers through tax filing, document collection, or other financial workflows
- Familiarity with CRM, ticketing, or customer support platforms
- Experience working in a seasonal or deadline-driven environment
What the job involves
- April is looking for customer-focused Tax Concierge Specialists – Seasonal who thrive in fast-paced environments, adapt quickly, and care about delivering great service
- In this role, you'll support Pro customers via chat, assist with tax questions, and help guide clients through the filing process using april's professional tax services, which are embedded in our financial partners' sites
- You'll be part of a collaborative team where we build, learn, and iterate quickly, and your insights will help shape the experience we deliver
- This is a full-time, US Based seasonal position running from December/January through April 30, 2027
- Support Pro customers via chat by answering tax questions, assisting with document gathering, and providing status updates on their returns
- Respond to every customer with warmth, patience, and professionalism, including those who are frustrated, stressed, or navigating difficult personal situations
- Conduct customer outreach via messaging and outbound calls as filing deadlines approach
- Own customer issues through to resolution, following up proactively and keeping customers informed along the way
- Recognize when an issue needs escalation and route it according to process and policy
- Consistently meet or exceed goals for customer satisfaction, service quality, and operational efficiency
- Navigate multiple systems and tools to efficiently document customer interactions and resolve issues
- Share feedback with leadership and product teams to improve the product, processes, and overall customer experience as we scale

Managing tax payments is a highly stressful and time-consuming process, with taxpayers having to track their earnings and calculate claimable expenditures, whilst navigating convoluted tax codes. Whilst tax-paying software makes this process easier, they still require manual data entry and tax code lookups, preventing the tools from being automated.
April provides an all-in-one platform for automated tax filing, aiming to streamline tax preparation, maximize tax refunds, and ensure seamless and on-time returns for its users. The company achieves this by integrating its software tools directly within the financial applications of its users, tracking their earnings and expenditures, learning individual tax scenarios, and ultimately ensuring that refunds are accurate.
Whilst competitors also deliver tools to make tax filing easier, April stands out with its approach to integrating within existing software, identifying the implications this has for automated data entry. The company is well-funded and has been investing in accelerating research and development as well as the expansion of its operations.
