Role
Who you are
- 5+ years experience building infrastructure to support scalable, reliable cloud based SaaS platforms targeting enterprise level customers,
- Demonstrable experience building tooling, automation and processes that accelerate the whole product development lifecycle
- A background in writing testable, modular and extensible code that covers that entire web application stack, ideally using TypeScript/JavaScript, React and Node.js
- Excellent communication skills, and are able to work collaboratively and respectfully with others
- A start-up mentality, are self-driven, ambitious, adaptable and are willing to jump in wherever you might be needed
- Good judgment, and aren’t afraid to make decisions and act with purpose and intention to progress Novata’s goals
- A creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving, understanding which battles to pick when it comes to business objectives versus technical limitations
- Great attention to detail, a no-compromise approach to quality and are committed to delivering the best experience possible to our users
What the job involves
- We’re a team of around 55 mixed discipline individuals, split into 6 cross-functional squads
- This role sits inside our Product and Engineering team, where you’ll be embedded into our platform squad and be responsible for delivering a first class developer experience to our other squads, making sure that our platform meets our quality, reliability and security goals
- You’ll have a chance to get involved early in our platform’s development, having the opportunity to greatly influence the shape and direction of our infrastructure, tooling and platform
- Reduce the cognitive load and empower other engineers via self-service. Accelerating the product development lifecycle by developing new tools, automation and processes
- Make sure that ‘the lights stay on’, and we deliver the best possible experience to our customers
- Ensure we’re proactively monitoring the health and performance of our platform, are effective at detecting and resolving threats, defects and outages before they have any meaningful impact on our users
- Work closely with other stakeholders, such as designers and product managers to capture requirements and distill problems into value focused deliverables
- Fulfill additional duties as requested
Application process
- An initial screening call where we’ll ask questions about your current and recent roles with a focus on you technical
- A 2-stage technical assessment, starting with a take-home exercise and then a followup with some of our engineers
- A final stage interview with one of our principle engineers and a member of the leadership team
- End-to-end, the process typically takes 3-4 weeks but we’re happy to work around your schedule and move faster or slower if need be
