Who you are
- This is an exciting role for anyone looking to gain entry into the world of sales at Markforged
- Ability to understand and analyze customer requirements
- Excellent networking skills, both internal and external
- Familiarity with SalesForce CRM / Outreach.io is preferred, but can be trained
- The ability to function in a team atmosphere, appreciate aggressive goals, and have excellent organizational/time management skills is also desired
- Demonstrated ability to work in rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to present in front of C-level prospects
- High energy, enthusiasm and ambition to grow in your career
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Interest in 3D printing is a plus!
- We use Apple computers and G-suite collaboration tools. While experience with these tools is not required, the ideal candidate will be excited to broaden their knowledge and embrace change
What the job involves
- As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you will be an integral part of our sales team and play a key role in the growth and success of our business
- A Markforged BDR is an outbound sales representative who is responsible for prospecting, following up, and qualifying leads to pass onto the Inside Sales Representatives or Territory Sales Managers
- You'll generate qualified leads for the Markforged sales team. Seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers
- Conduct research to identify potential clients and market trends
- Reach out to prospects through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and social media, to generate new business opportunities
- Qualify leads and schedule appointments for the sales team
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospect interactions in the CRM system
- Take a “solution-selling” approach to active opportunities ensuring that each aspect of the Markforged platform is properly positioned to address customer/prospect needs and win opportunities
- Build a network; research prospective clients through the use of web/social media, internal databases and external tools to identify leads
- Provide ongoing Lead Development and nurturing strategies for prospects that are not currently ready to purchase
- Working collaboratively with channel sales, enterprise sales and marketing teams and all internal operations to support sales funnel to the sales team goals
- Achieve and exceed weekly, monthly, and quarterly quotas and targets

Our take
Markforged develops and manufactures metal and carbon fibre 3D printers. There’s been a huge surge in 3D printing businesses as technology improves and demand grows, and so there’s plenty of competition for Markforged in the form of companies such as Desktop Metal, Formlabs and Stratasys.
3D printing has seen some strong growth in recent years, and that’s expected to continue as companies look to the technology to expand beyond the rapid prototyping for which it’s best known. Metal printing from the likes of Markforged and competitors including Desktop Metal are seen as an important step, offering far more durability than plastic deposits.
The business has strong clients, including Disney, NASA, Rolls Royce, and the US Air Force. And in 2023, it launched the FX10, its first industrial 3D printer capable of printing both metal and advanced composites. Alongside this, the company is set for new growth, having recently been acquired by Nano DImension. This merger will strengthen their position in the 3D printing market, combining expertise in composite and metal solutions with Nano Dimension's digital manufacturing innovations.
