What the job involves
- Sleeper is looking for a Creative Strategist to help shape what we do, when we do it, and how we show up as a brand. This role is focused on idea generation, campaign concepts, and cultural moments—bringing creative thinking to the forefront as Sleeper builds awareness in a crowded sports landscape
- This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who naturally thinks in ideas, moments, and narratives, and who understands how creative work connects to media, timing, and audience behavior—especially within sports and entertainment
- You’ll partner closely with growth, marketing, and leadership, but your primary value will come from originating strong creative ideas, not managing execution or optimizing performance
- Generate creative campaign ideas that drive awareness and memorability
- Develop concepts for campaigns, brand moments, partnerships, and culturally relevant activations
- Bring a strong point of view on when and where Sleeper should show up
- Translate ideas into clear creative directions that teams can execute against
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to bring ideas to life
- Partner with growth and marketing teams to align creative ideas with channel context and timing
- Contribute to planning around major sports moments and seasonal opportunities
Our take
The popularity of being able to create fantasy teams and enjoy watching sports virtually has taken socialising around sports to a virtual level. In fact, the fantasy sports market size is expected to reach $48.6 billion by 2027. Sleeper was initially an app on which users discussed fantasy sports, but in 2017, it began hosting free fantasy football leagues, competing with sites like Yahoo. Integrating social media and sports, the company is now known to be one of the best DFS communities to hang out on.
Through substantial funding, Sleeper is expanding the game offerings on its platform and in 2022, release a new feature called Wallet that enables users to sync their preferred payment methods to the platform.
There has been consistent growth for the platform since its founding and it has successfully attracted a loyal user base.
