Who you are
- Native European Spanish Speaker with a translation degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style skills in Spanish
- Experience with localization, game translation or linguistic QA with strong emphasis on reviewing content for accuracy, consistency, and quality
- Experience using CAT tools (such as MemoQ) and CMS platforms
- A good understanding of LQA tools, Localization workflows and testing best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with remote teams and external vendors
- Ability to follow processes, guidelines, and quality standards
- Attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
What the job involves
- As a Localization Specialist I, you’ll get hands-on experience with the full localization pipeline: from translation and proofreading to subtitling and in-game testing
- You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure that every line of dialogue, UI string, and subtitle is carefully adapted to resonate with local audiences, all while maintaining the vision of our games
- Translate and proofread game and marketing content for EU Spanish. Maintain translation memory and terminology databases
- Collaborate with external & internal teams to deliver high-quality localized content on schedule
- Support testing efforts to ensure localized content displays correctly and feels natural in context
- Act as the primary contact for language-specific questions and contribute to the development of glossaries and style guides
- Embrace our growth mindset and actively share knowledge with teammates and vendors
Our take
Cloud Imperium Games is an independent game company that specializes in immersive storytelling. It is currently developing a highly anticipated PC space simulation game, Star Citizen, initially funded by a crowdfunding campaign, as well as Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player sidekick to Star Citizen staring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.
Originally announced in 2012 and 2014, neither title has received an official release date. The appeal for backers, who have contributed over $500 million to the crowdfunding campaign, is that the games exist outside the norms of modern game development, and that the company seems to have stuck to its initial plans and trajectory rather than adapting towards an earlier release.
The company announced plans to increase operations and headcount across the years from 2022 to 2027, which could suggest a release date at the end of this 5-year plan. The fans remain engaged for now, but the company runs the risk of frustrating and alienating their donators and target audience the longer they have to wait. And bad press surrounding management at the company is unlikely to help.
