Company mission

To make investing better for everyone in Europe

Role

Who you are

  • 3+ years of experience in a Communications or PR role
  • London based
  • Exceptional written and spoken English is a must. You’ll be chatting with customers, journalists, partners and investors on a daily basis
  • Native or near-native in Dutch - half of this role will be helping to relaunch, and market Lightyear in the Netherlands, so you need to be able to write and speak fluently
  • Strong storytelling skills. You’re able to take a new product, a piece of data, an opinion or a problem and create a compelling narrative around it
  • An interest in all – but deep experience in at least one – of the following areas: public relations, content, social media and community
  • An understanding of the investment world is great, but it’s not required. A willingness to learn about it is a must, though!

What the job involves

  • This isn’t a run-of-the-mill comms role. You’ll be able to shape the areas you want to spend time in and own them fully.
  • If you’re someone who can lead on a few of the following areas and are happy to get your teeth stuck into the other areas that might be new to you, then you’re in the right place
  • Creating story ideas & own execution from drafting to selling in
  • Maintaining Lightyear’s relationships with key media outlets and journalists
  • Writing friendly and clever copy for the app, website and social media
  • Creating and/or managing the creation of interesting content that will work across our various channels (blog, newsletters, YouTube, social media)
  • Help to build our community of Lightyear advocates through different types of events, both online and offline
  • Working with partners, industry bodies and influencers

Our take

Lightyear is building a stock trading app that provides users with commission-free investment opportunities. It aims to reduce the barrier of entry to investing (users can invest from £1) and simplify the seemingly complicated nature of investing.

The company differentiates itself by making investing extremely easy. In only a couple of minutes, users create an investment account and start investing. Moreover, Lightyear aims to provide users with intuitive tools that allow them to make informed decisions.

Lightyear has attracted an impressive level of investment which has been used to fuel its expansion into European markets. It is further consolidating its success by releasing a much-demanded web app, allowing its users to manage their portfolio at a desk rather than just on the small screen. This gives it an edge against European rivals who are yet to publically launch their web platforms, and Lightyear will be sure to exploit this early mover advantage.
