What the job involves
- We're looking for an experienced Product Engineer that wants to help people connect with nature through our mobile apps (React Native), and through birdwatching. With a clear focus on user experience and delivery efficiency, and always keeping platform quality and performance in mind.
- Birda is a dynamic start-up-like environment. So, be ready to deal with ambiguity, widen your scope full-stack, but also collaborate in product ideation, prioritization, analytics, and even marketing. Whatever it takes to generate real impact to our users; and to our planet!
- You are good at your job but are always up to keep learning new ways of working and new technologies.
- You'll need an interest in conservation and nature. You don't need to be a full-on bird-nerd but outside should be your happy place and you own a sturdy pair of shoes or boots
Application process
- 1. Apply with your profile.
- 2. First conversation. A 30-45min call with Alvaro, the Head of Engineering and hiring manager. He will go through the company mission, structure and engineering culture, and let you introduce yourself also.
- 3. Technical interview. A quick vanilla JS live coding session (without AI assistance) followed by an open technical conversation. We are interested on your general mental framework to solve problems with code.
- 4. Cultural fit. A conversation with people from the Product, and leadership teams. You can use this space to know more about the business and product approach (also about birds) as well as evaluating the cultural match with your potential stakeholders.

Our take
Birda's app lets users keep a record of what they saw during their birding session. Users can then share this information easily with fellow birders in their network and beyond.
Birda is tailored to any kind of user, from casual nature-lovers, which are granted an easy way to access and learn about birding, to serious birders, which are provided with all taxonomies together in one place, making it easier to keep track of their observations.
Besides learning about the fascinating world of birds, Birda users can effectively help protect biodiversity, by simply sharing a birds location on the platform, customers can help conservationists to obtain the vital data they need to preserve thousands of bird species.
