Who you are
- Our ideal candidate has experience building systems, and is ready to create and socialize new standards for efficient engineering with our teams
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of product development experience
- Platform & tooling experience
- Experience leading cross-team engineering projects or working closely with product and other stakeholders
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passion and motivation to learn and grow as a software engineer
Desirable
- An object-oriented server language; Java preferred
- Containerization tooling, such as: Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, Docker, and ArgoCD
- CI/CD systems; GitHub Actions preferred
- Common build tools; Make & Maven preferred
- *NIX systems and scripting; Python, Shell, and Go preferred
- Web frontend tech; TypeScript and Angular preferred
What the job involves
- You have worked in a product development or similar role and love helping other engineers bring out their best selves. Your passion is creating and improving systems to make software engineering easier
- In this role, you can expect to apply your experience in engineering to engineering itself. We’re looking for someone who is excited to create systems that are both for and by engineers.
- Your work at Celonis will directly impact companies and people around the globe as they improve their processes to save money, reduce waste, improve automation and generally become more efficient. For example, Celonis can help a company understand their carbon footprint in order to reduce CO2 emissions and deliver a healthier planet for future generations
- Develop and deploy processes to roll out new tools and guides across 400+ engineers
- Support other teams in adopting them
- Some cajoling needed
- Standardizing CI/CD via versioning, modifying release processes, and creating GitHub workflows & actions
- Setting standards for development best practices by developing guides, linters, and static code analysis tools for Java and TypeScript
- Write extensive documentation of how to use the tools you build
- Listening to fellow engineers to learn what pains them daily, and taking initiative to improve it
- Drive new tools and practices adoption across Celonis dev teams
- Set an example for your colleagues
- Write clean, understandable, and testable code
- Help define a fun and inclusive engineering culture
- Provide feedback on the designs and code of peers
Our take
Celonis started out in an obscure niche which the company called process mining. Its first product was created to scan data logs for its clients and map out their processes in its entirety - inefficiencies and all. Celonis' product was in essence, to be considered a replacement for costly consultants and quants.
The company has since branched out into an even more niche area that plays on the strength of its products and proprietary technology - such as execution management solutions. Celonis' product found significant uptake across industries like supply chain, manufacturing, and business intelligence which quickly amassed it a wealth of enterprise customers and hundreds of millions of dollars in recurring revenue.
Celonis is king in its industry as it was founded just as data-heavy enterprise operations sky-rocketed. Now, the company is backed by hefty funding and impressive advisors across several industries, still seeing increased investment despite the venture capital market is experiencing a slowdown. Celonis has shown impressive foresight and innovation as a company and will continue to eat the fruits of those labour for many years to come.
