- Experience: Previous SDR/BDR experience (6+ months preferred)
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and proper grammar
- Research Proficiency: Ability to gather, analyze, and apply information to identify decision-makers and understand market challenges
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Outreach.io, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, LeadIQ, and Looker
- Adaptability: Confidence in stepping into multiple markets and quickly adapting to their nuances
What the job involves
- As a Business Development Representative, you will play a vital role in generating pipeline momentum, driving customer expansion, and supporting our sales efforts across multiple territories and market segments
- This role blends outbound prospecting expertise with in-depth research and collaboration, making it integral to our GTM strategy
- This position will contribute to the development of greenfield territories while building strong cross-departmental relationships
- Unlike traditional BDR roles, this position emphasizes expertise development and the unique opportunity to build relationships with multiple Account Executives as we expand into new markets
- You will collaborate closely with teammates and stakeholders across sales and marketing to drive Fivetran's growth and success and build a pipeline in new areas of the business
- Identify and map key decision-makers within large Enterprise accounts, targeting Fortune 100 companies
- Execute outbound prospecting efforts in multiple greenfield territories, securing sales-qualified opportunities through personalized outreach and cadences
- Conduct research to understand customer challenges and position Fivetran’s solutions effectively, with pitches ranging from C-level executives to data analysts
- Organizelog, and categorize sales lead information and activity in Salesforce.com
- Collaborate with Account Executives, Marketing, and Alliances to develop strategies that drive customer expansion, upsell opportunities, and pipeline growth in greenfield territories
- Support Enterprise/Strategic account mapping efforts to uncover high-potential opportunities
- Utilize pre-created and custom cadences aligned with industry, persona, and use case to ensure targeted outreach
- Leverage tools like Salesforce, Salesloft, Outreach, ZoomInfo, LeadIQ, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to enrich contact and account data
- Perform in-depth research on target accounts and industries to enhance outreach personalization and strategy
Our take
After a few slower years since graduating from Y Combinator in 2013, Fivetran has skyrocketed, consistently raising large sums of funding, including an Andreessen Horowitz-backed $565m Series D round in 2021.
Customers are mostly data analysts at companies with inefficient database schema, who suffer from a high risk of project failures. Fivetran offers rapid integration of complex data services into cloud warehouses, tagging onto the trend towards cloud-based data systems.
By developing and continuously improving cloud applications that adapt to changing APIs and data schemas, Fivetran is attracting customers who seek long-term data viability. Fivetran also benefits from being easy to set up and integrate into a client's existing software.
After acquiring HVR, a data integration competitor, and Teleport Data, Fivetran continues to add functionality and customers via acquisition. A round of funding in 2023 paved the way for expansion into European and Asian markets.
