Role
Who you are
- Master (MSc) degree in econometrics, quantitative finance, statistics or an equivalent degree
- 1-3 years work experience in data analysis; preferably in a B2C, scale-up environment
- Knowledge and experience in implementing Analytics, Reporting and BI tooling
- Knowledge of unit growth metrics
- Technical Expertise in Data Science: Proficiency in data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis. Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R, and tools such as SQL, TensorFlow, or similar platforms
- Experience with Large Datasets: Ability to work with and extract insights from large volumes of data. Experience with big data technologies and cloud computing platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure could be beneficial
- You are eager to learn, you never settle with what you have
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both with engineers and business stakeholders
- Team player who thrives on helping and enabling others in a small, fast-paced team
- Live in The Netherlands (Peaks is located in the heart of Amsterdam)
What the job involves
- As our (Marketing) Data Scientist, you will look into our growth challenges from a data perspective and help to transform data into valuable insights for marketing, product and management, with a strong focus on improving our most important KPIs (customer acquisition retention, product use, customer satisfaction, referrals and revenues)
- You guide the team with your analysis and ensure they make the right decisions and help setting priorities
- You build and maintain data dashboards and deliver reports to the finance team to track KPIs
- You identify improvements and spot tracking issues on app and web across all our acquisition channels
- You set-up and participate in projects that range from analysing our customer onboarding funnel for conversion improvements to analysing user behaviour (deposit- and withdrawal behaviour, the use of products, etc.)
- Own your product end-to-end from scoping them together with colleagues, to integrating it into the product with the engineering teams, and monitoring their results on an ongoing basis
- You will be working in the marketing department and report to the head of marketing. Next to this, you will collaborate with the product and finance team
Our take
The retail investor market is growing, thanks to investment apps like Robinhood and E*TRADE democratising access to the markets and empowering non-professionals to make their money work. It’s stimulated the fintech startup scene globally, too, and whilst many are chasing the hands-on retail investors, a niche has opened up for ‘small change’ investment apps for the hands-off customer. Peaks is one of these, allowing users to round up card payments and automatically invest it.
These apps are great for early-stage, short term investors, even though they will tend to work out more costly in the long run. As such, they tend to be directed at young Gen X and the emerging Gen Z markets - and here’s where Peaks has smartly distinguished itself from competitors like Stash and Acorn. Peaks is a values-driven app which only permits investments in sustainable ETFs. This is likely to play well with the younger generations, who expressly seek out brands and companies with the kind of eco-friendly ethos that aligns with their beliefs.
