What the job involves
- The Staff Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing highly complex and cutting-edge optomechanical and optoelectronic packages
- You will be working closely with teams across a wide array of disciplines, and you will be expected to apply DfM principles on an everyday basis
- Strong design skills incorporating mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, electronics, and precision design principles are a must
- Ability to work independently with limited direction across functional and organizational boundaries
- Ability to distill complex mechanical issues and drive convergence amongst electrical, optical & packaging teams
- Ownership of designs from prototype to production
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly
- Expertise with GD&T, tolerance analysis methods
- Generate and maintain process flow documentation
- Conduct DFMEA & risk analysis heat maps
- Fixture design & fabrication
- Test set-up design & fabrication
- Generate & maintain BOM’s & build standards
- Generate & maintain Specification & Drawing Trees
- Ability to execute basic structural and thermal analyses to down-select designs
