Who you are
- 5+ years of software development experience in a product-centric environment
- Experience building backend APIs and responsive front-ends
- Effective communication skills used in technical problem-solving and collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers
- Compassion–both for Fabric’s customers and your fellow teammates

- Enthusiasm for engineering and technology
Desirable
- Experience in a JavaScript or TypeScript environment
- Experience with modern, functional UI paradigms. We use React
- Experience building and managing distributed systems in AWS. We use CloudFront (via CDK 2) to manage Lambdas, Cognito, DynamoDB, Athena, S3, SQS, and SNS
- Knowledge of financial and investment products
What the job involves
- We’re hiring a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Exploration team
- Starting with an investment account for minors (UGMA), the Exploration team is creating new products to help parents secure their childrens’ futures
- Develop full-stack features in TypeScript and React, running in a serverless AWS environment
- Participate in the design and implementation of features to expand Fabric’s UGMA offering. We work in two-week sprints
- Collaborate with other engineers to help us continually improve our codebase, to support a growing startup with big ambitions
- Help your fellow engineers grow in new and exciting ways!
Our take
Fabric is a life insurance company and mobile app for families at the early stages of parenthood. Owned by Gerber Life Insurance, Fabric uses proprietary technology from its parent company for a suite of products that include Fabric Instant for sudden death or accident cover and Fabric Premium for accidents and illnesses.
Though these offers are nothing new in the world of life insurance, Fabric stands out thanks to its intuitive mobile app and flexible coverage options, enough so at least, that it has received substantial funding since its founding in 2015.
Funded by long-time investment partners Bessemer Venture Partners, Fabric has been using its funds to expand its product suite and accelerate growth. Counting thousands of families under its insurance, Fabric is still a small company but appears on track to widen its influence in the US.
