Role
Who you are
- Experience of troubleshooting logical and physical performance bottlenecks on MSSQL
- Good knowledge of configuring Microsoft SQL Server (2012 to 2019)
- Good understanding of T-SQL and Query Profiler
- Knowledge of any other RDBMS would be advantageous (MySQL, Postgres etc)
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting always-available, cross-datacentre OLTP database environments
- Experience using SQL Server monitoring tools
- Good usage of public cloud (AWS)
- Good scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python…)
- Good knowledge of configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Octopus…)
- Good knowledge of configuring Windows Server
- Good experience with Network Storage (NetApp, Amazon S3)
- Good virtualization experience (Hyper-V, XEN, VMware)
- Good use or knowledge of provisioning with Terraform or CloudFormation
- Good knowledge of working with APIs
- Has advanced troubleshooting techniques and resolves problems as they occur
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, frequently identifies enhancements
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Actively participates in overall solution and architectural design of the system
- Pro-actively reviews various sources of performance, security and quality data to ensure accuracy and identify issues
- Is open minded and actively seeks opportunities to try out new ideas and situations

What the job involves
- You will be working as part of a cross functional platform team to deliver infrastructure, platform and database services for the Sports ticketing product(s) in our international markets
- Partnering with product and software engineering teams to ensure alignment on achieving business goals for the international Sports product suite
- Ticketmaster Sport is part of Live Nation Entertainment which is the world’s leading live entertainment company comprised of global market leaders: Ticketmaster, Live Nation Concerts, LN Media and Artist Nation Management
- You will consult on and help to implement solutions as part of a Product Delivery team
- Enabling teams to deliver software faster by creation of tooling and automation, providing operational support for a range of products, including the delivery of ticketing and associated solutions for major tournaments and high-profile sports clubs and events
- Participate in an out of hours on call rotation, usually one week every month (emergencies only, paid on top)
- Support the current and future database platform(s)
- Maintaining existing backup, HA and DR solutions and processes
- Assisting with database architecture planning and implementation
- Building and maintaining CI/CD Database pipelines
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of SQL Server Agent jobs and scheduled tasks
- Maintaining, improving and expanding our existing automation processes
- Support the current Windows & Linux platform
- Collaborate with product engineering to bring new components and features to production
- Experience working directly with cross-functional teams, resolving data or/and database related issues
- Automate tasks, deployments, tests. creating infrastructure as code
- Design and implement resilient, highly available systems
- Plan, organize and communicate project status
- Continuously improve systems, security and drive new standards meeting PCI requirements
- Support production database issues and assist in investigation at every level of the technology stack
- Infrastructure auditing (looking at current system gaps and maintain a backlog of improvements)

Live Nation is the world's leading live entertainment company, sitting at the top of the market in live events and ticketing. Formed in 2009, it is a major international company, with key business segments made up of concerts, ticketing, and sponsorship and advertising.
Despite its dominant position in the market, the company saw an 84% drop in revenue during 2020 and the closure of live events. Since then, however, demand has been stronger than ever for their ticket sales. This is a reflection that live events remain a clear priority for consumers and has been further reflected in Live Nation's acquisitions of companies - like Goodlive - that complement and bolster Live Nation's portfolio.
In addition to live events, a key area to watch for Live Nation will be the rise of online concert streaming, like that undertaken by competitors such as Driift. Major festivals such as Glastonbury have trialled online concerts with mixed reviews. If it proves successful, this could be a major new section of the entertainment market and a big potential part of Live Nation's future ventures.
