What the job involves
- As a Senior Software Engineer on the Integrations team, you'll design and build the systems that connect ZoomInfo's platform to the ecosystem of CRM, MAP, and external eco-systems that our customers depend on. You'll work on highly scalable backend services that power reliable, real-time data sync and API integrations across millions of records — enabling seamless connectivity between ZoomInfo and platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Microsoft Dynamics 365
- You'll leverage technologies like Kafka, Confluent Cloud, Node.js/NestJS, and modern API and authentication standards to build resilient, observable, and fault-tolerant integration services. Your work will be foundational to how ZoomInfo's data reaches customers and connects with the tools at the center of their go-to-market stack
- Our engineering culture values diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and openness. We encourage collaboration, big thinking, and calculated risk-taking in a blame-free environment. You'll have the autonomy to work on meaningful projects while receiving the support and mentorship needed to grow your career
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js (NestJS). Java (Spring Boot) is a plus
- Develop and manage our platform integrations layer, handling connectivity, data ingestion, and exports between ZoomInfo's data layer and third-party integrations
- Design systems for reliable job execution, retries, state management, and long-running processes
- Implement orchestration patterns for complex, multi-step business processes
- Design and maintain APIs and internal services that integrate with external systems
- Build observability into systems (logging, tracing, metrics) to monitor integration health and performance
- Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability of backend systems handling large volumes of events
- Optimize system performance, throughput, and latency across distributed systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in complex, asynchronous systems
- Lead medium to large-scale feature development, working independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to define integration requirements and execution guarantees (SLAs/SLOs)
- Participate in agile development processes, sprint planning, and technical discussions
- Provide technical mentorship and conduct thorough code reviews to elevate team capabilities
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new tools for potential adoption
- Support production systems through monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements
Our take
It was only a few years ago when B2B sales teams relied on warm introductions and contact books. Now, cloud-based CRM, automation and Big Data are critical tools for any selling process. ZoomInfo’s B2B contact base has played a massive part in that journey.
The company primarily helps salespeople find potential customers. Crucially, ZoomInfo then leverages technology to help make that approach as successful as possible. Think contact details of the most likely budget holder at that company, signals for when and how to approach and crucial updates on the company’s fortunes.
ZoomInfo has grown significantly over the previous few years and is now shifting its approach to pursue more inorganic growth through mergers and acquisitions, acquiring several companies in 2022, including the job recruitment website Comparably.
The risk for ZoomInfo is that these moves represent expansion beyond its traditional strengths in top-of-funnel customer acquisition. The company will need to ensure that it maximises synergies in order to win in these markets. The company has expanded operations in India and is set to see further expansion, as indicated by its appearance on the Fortune Future 50 list of robust and growing companies in 2023.
