Who you are
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in an engineering manager role
- A track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-moving environments
- Strong engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated ability to design, build, and scale production-grade infrastructure or platform systems
- Experience with distributed systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, observability, or SRE practices
- Strong systems-thinking: you balance reliability, performance, cost, and developer experience under uncertainty

- Willingness to wear multiple hats—from architecture and implementation to incident response and developer support. Comfortable with rapid iteration, experimentation, and learning from failure in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- As an Engineering Manager at Assort Health, you'll lead a team building AI-powered products that help patients access the healthcare they need — from our patient-facing voice AI agents to the platforms and workflows that power them
- You'll lead infrastructure at Assort, owning platform foundations, observability, CI/CD, developer tooling, and cross-cutting systems that enable every engineering pod at Assort to ship faster and operate more reliably
- You'll build a high-performing team, set technical direction, and help great engineers execute
- We expect you to be technical and hands-on when it matters: leading architecture reviews, debugging incidents alongside the team, and setting the bar for how the team uses AI coding tools to ship faster
- Lead a high performing infrastructure and platform team, including hiring and coaching
- Build and scale the platform systems that power Assort's AI agents — observability, CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and reliability infrastructure
- Own cross-cutting systems and services that span multiple product teams, ensuring consistent reliability and performance
- Drive technical decisions on GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes, monitoring/alerting, and data infrastructure
- Partner with product engineering teams to unblock them, improve developer velocity, and maintain operational excellence
- Design and ship internal tools and automation that make every engineer more productive
- Enjoy a high degree of autonomy, tasked with solving complex infrastructure problems while balancing reliability, cost, and developer experience
Our take
Assort Health is a fast-growing healthcare tech company focused on improving how patients connect with providers by designing tools for the complexity of modern healthcare systems.
What Assort really focuses on is a problem most people have experienced, struggling to book or manage an appointment. Clinics are often overwhelmed with calls, and usually understaffed, creating long wait times and the opportunity for mistakes. Assort's voice agents step in to handle those calls, figure out what patients need, and get them booked in correctly.
Already, clinics using Assort are seeing more appointments booked and a smoother experience for all. The company is also starting to expand into other areas like referrals and billing. In just a short amount of time, it has scaled quickly across the US, supporting thousands of providers and raising over $222M, which shows just how much demand there is for fixing these systems.
