Role
Who you are
- You will be a management accountant or supporting a finance manager role who is CA, ACA or ACCA/CIMA trained. You'll have experience working in a small/medium sized fast-growing organisation
- Proven experience in completing the monthly close process end-to-end and delivering management reports
- Strong grasp of accounting (debits/credits), business reporting and financial statements: P&L, BS & Cashflow
- Excellent knowledge and experience of MS Excel/G-Sheets, using advanced formulas to analyse data
- Ability to optimize processes and you are always looking for ways to automate
- Outstanding analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Comfortable prioritising multiple work streams across daily responsibilities & long-term projects
- Agile and hands-on work ethic, you are committed to making an impact
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as you will communicate with internal & external stakeholders
- Exposure to accounting systems & other finance tools, experience using NetSuite is an advantage
- Experience managing and or mentoring other finance professionals
What the job involves
- We are a fast paced Finance team looking after all end-to-end financial activities to support the Duffel Group (6 reporting entities, across 4 regions). - In this position, you will have the opportunity to deliver on financial operations, drive process improvements, and exercise good business judgment while performing your role
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable to ensure processes run smoothly, including reviewing and supporting various processes
- Process & review General Ledger transactions for multiple entities
- Approval of domestic & multi-currency international payments
- Contribute to the preparation & delivery of monthly & quarterly close activities, including invoice posting, balance sheet reconciliations, posting journal entries (accruals/prepayments/depreciation etc.)
- Maintain key reports (e.g Cash Summary, financial KPI's etc.) relied upon for period close and reporting
- Ownership of processing Group payroll for review & approval by Finance Manager
- Manage employee expense processing & payment
- Assist in ensuring appropriate tax compliance and timely tax authority returns across multiple jurisdictions
- Participate in the Statutory Audit process to ensure timely and accurate preparation of audit deliverables
- Support ad-hoc projects to drive efficiency & process improvement
- Management of 3 direct reports

In the same way that challenger banks have come along to re-invent legacy banking software from the ground up, Duffel is doing the same in the travel market, linking up airlines directly with travel agents with a modern platform.
Duffel's system connects with airlines’ booking channels more extensively than those of incumbent operators, like Amadeus and Sabre, meaning it can facilitate selling not just seats on a plane, but also other products such as speedy boarding, airport transfer and seat selection.
Add-on products make up an increasing part of airline revenues but are mostly sold through airlines' own websites at the moment (whereas bookings are increasingly being made via intermediaries like Skyscanner). Duffel's technology will make it easier for airlines to sell more of these ancillary services, which is what makes its product so attractive to airline customers.
Duffel's main competitor in Europe, Amadeus, has several billions in revenue and over 15,000 employees, so there's a big challenge ahead, but a big prize if the company succeeds in capturing some of that market.
