Role
Who you are
- You have at least 7 years of experience in Android development, ideally within a startup or scaleup environment
- A good level of expertise in Kotlin, Coroutines and Compose is required
- You have worked on applications with high traffic, ideally in a B2C environment
- You have experience crafting highly advanced UI elements
- You display a high level of ownership and autonomy in your daily tasks
- You have the ability to challenge others and accept having your opinions being challenged
- Autonomy doesn’t mean “isolation” to you, and you know how to contribute within a team
- As part of your job, you will be working on tools that process personal data relating to Yubo users
- As a social media platform, we require our employees to have a strong awareness and understanding of privacy issues, and in particular of children's online safety, privacy and well-being

What the job involves
- As the team responsible for the development of our core product, our mobile apps, the mobile team will be at the forefront of creating new experiences for our users to enjoy. To that end, we are currently looking for our newest team member for the Android team !
- As a Senior Android Developer, you will be part of the Android team along with 4 passionate senior developers, working on all aspects of the Android app, with no restrictions in terms of scope, and the ability to contribute to all technical decisions made within the team !
- As a member of the Android Team, you will be responsible for creating impactful new features for Yubo and our users and delivering our product roadmap !
- As a Senior, you will play a key part in maintaining a high level of quality on all deliverables and be accountable for the quality of the codebase along with all team members
- You will also contribute to solving more complex problems. In terms of more complex UI for instance, how to create a scalable product, or what new technologies we should explore, among other subjects
- With many types of devices used by our Android users, performance is a part we are very adamant about within the team, and you will also be taking part in keeping a good level of performance on all new features
- You will also be an integral part of knowledge sharing within the team, be it by taking part in code reviews, pair programming, or just sharing knowledge and best practices

Our take
Founded in 2015, Yubo is a social platform mostly aimed at Generation Z users. They hang out in live streaming rooms to socialise, play games and make new friends. There aren’t creators on the platform broadcasting to fans like nearly all other major social platforms; instead, the app focuses on helping users communicate naturally.
So far, the company has seen 60 million sign-ups - up from 40 million in 2020 - 99% of which are Gen Z users, ages 13 to 25. It also sees rapidly increasing revenue, more than tripling from 2019 to 2023.
Yubo has been thinking about the future of social networking for the next generation of younger users, not just from a product standpoint, but also from a safety perspective. Most recently, it has been focused on implementing unique safety features such as face-scanning age verification. These features are likely to help the company retain and protect its users, and therefore grow its user base to reach new markets and stay ahead of the competition.
