Who you are
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in a tech or payments company, with a focus on managing third-party partner integrations or similar activities in solutions engineering, technical account management, engineering, or product
- Deep understanding of API integrations, payment systems, and enterprise-grade technology solutions
- Proven ability to manage distributed teams and operate in a global, multicultural environment
- Demonstrated success as a manager of managers, with strong mentorship and talent development skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience influencing C-level executives, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of solving complex technical challenges collaboratively
What the job involves
- The Global Head of Partner Engineering will lead and scale Adyen's Partner Engineering function, managing technical integrations and relationships with our technology and alliance partners globally
- This leader will play a pivotal role in ensuring our technical solutions seamlessly integrate with partner ecosystems to address the complex needs of our merchants around the world
- As a manager of managers, the ideal candidate will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and developing a distributed team of highly skilled partner engineering professionals
- This individual must excel in navigating technical challenges, driving strategic collaborations, and fostering innovation to ensure Adyen maintains its position as a trusted partner to merchants and partners alike
- Develop and execute the global strategy for Partner Engineering, aligning with Adyen's broader business objectives
- Build, manage, and scale a high-performing, distributed team of partner engineering managers and individual contributors
- Own the technical relationships with Adyen’s technology and alliance partners, including ERPs, eCommerce platforms, Point of Sale providers, and others
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of robust technical integrations with third-party partners
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Merchant Support, to align partner initiatives with merchant needs
- Represent Adyen as a technical leader at industry events, partner summits, and internal forums

Our take
Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.
Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
