Role
Who you are
- Experience. You have 2-6 years of relevant experience in investment banking, consulting, and/or private equity. Operational SaaS and /or strategic finance experience is a plus. You have a long track record of academic and professional success
- Technical Skills. You’re an expert in Excel and have experience building complex financial models from scratch. You can synthesize large datasets into actionable outputs and combine financial modeling, other quantitative analysis, and sound business judgment to recommend solutions
- Strategic Thinking. You’re a data-driven thinker and you approach complex problems with an open mind. You are intellectually curious, and you naturally seek to understand the ‘why’ behind data. You can synthesize complex information into creative recommendations
- Precision. You value precision and accuracy, you have a sharp attention to detail and you take pride in all of your work. You have a natural feel for numbers and data, and you can produce a high-quality work product in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

What the job involves
- In this highly visible role, you’ll have the opportunity to work hand in hand with the CFO, CEO, and other leaders to develop and refine Runwise’s financial strategy
- You’ll join a high-growth start-up as the company’s first strategic finance hire and leverage your analytical skills to solve complex financial challenges that do not have well-defined solutions
- Lead all financial modeling. Build sophisticated financial models and synthesize outputs into actionable insights to support immediate, medium, and long-term decision-making
- Monitor financial performance metrics, cash flow dynamics, and other KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions whenever necessary
- Strategically partner cross-functionally with other business units (e.g., sales, marketing, field service) to conduct deep-dive analysis, creatively solve ad-hoc analytical problems, monitor results, and iterate on alternative solutions
- Work closely with the CFO and executive leadership team to define and constantly improve the Company’s financial strategy, including regularly evaluating financing alternatives, monitoring venture debt and equity market activity, and developing relationships with current and prospective financial stakeholders
- Assist in evaluating potential M&A opportunities and strategic partnerships
- Manage recurring and ad-hoc financial operations requirements such as financial reporting, investor data requests, quarterly sales incentive plan payouts, strategic partnership operations, etc

In the battle against climate change, emissions from buildings are often overlooked. But they contribute over a quarter of all global carbon emissions. This is part due to ancient energy systems, and to archaic building management practices which make it hard to update these systems.
Runwise provides technology for building managers to operate energy systems better. This lets them lower emissions while providing greater comfort for residents and workers. It works via a combination of wireless control, a sensor network and a software platform. This is attractive because is lowers operating costs significantly and makes running buildings easier.
Runwise controls the key energy systems in thousands of buildings across the US, and removes significant amounts of carbon emissions per year. It is also well-funded, which has allowed it to expand significantly and make more buildings operate better and greener.
