Who you are

Work closely with our in-house design team to update and implement freatures on the Ffern website. Create pixel-perfect implementations of Figma designs.

Desirable

2-4 years development experience with React, using Next.js. Experience using headless CMSs (Sanity, Contentful, Strapi). Working knowledge of Tailwind, Javascript type systems (specifically Typescript and Zod) and e2e testing libraries (specifically Playwright) highly desirable
Be comfortable with ownership and responsibility of the front end experience. We move fast and push updates daily
Know your server-rendering from your client-rendering, your overflow-clip from your overflow-hidden. Be up to date with the latest UI trends, CSS specs, and front end technologies
Academic degree from a top-tier university

What the job involves

Work closely with our in-house design team to update and implement freatures on the Ffern website. Create pixel-perfect implementations of Figma designs
Identify, analyse, and improve performance metrics for the Ffern website
Expand e2e testing of the core user journeys in the consumer lifecycle

The UK fragrance industry is worth over £7 billion annually, but remains dominated by a small number of global giants – including LVMH, L'Oréal and Chanel. Ffern is an early stage start-up seeking to revive the traditional art of perfumery with the help of a 4th-generation master perfumer.

Producing a maximum of four perfumes a year (each bottle is released at the equinox and solstice), Ffern's products are organic, vegan and made from natural ingredients. Interested customers must register on Ffern's production ledger in advance to secure a bottle, a model that keeps batches small and exclusive, in turn allowing the team to focus on quality and sustainability.

Consumer trends towards perfume have shifted in recent years, with a strong push towards natural and artisanal products. Ffern has garnered significant media attention with its focus on clean fragrances and continues to sell out every quarter. Encouraged by a strong following of repeat customers in the UK, the business now sells in the US and EU.
