Role
Who you are
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in a finance role, with a preference for experience in startup environments
- Analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and a strong desire to continuously learn and grow
- Ability to wear multiple hats, a bias for action, and adeptness in managing tight schedules
- Strong skills in Excel, QuickBooks, and familiarity with other financial tools and software
- Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach to teamwork

- Master’s degree in business, finance, or related field
- Experience in startup environments
What the job involves
- We're looking for an Agency Financial Analyst to enhance and oversee key aspects of our financial operations
- You will work closely with the Senior Manager of Finance to ensure the smooth execution of various financial processes, provide insightful data analysis, and be a pivotal contact point for inbound agent inquiries
- This is a unique opportunity to directly influence the expansion of one of the country’s fastest growing Medicare brokerages
- Execute monthly commission disbursement and marketing co-op management
- Audit commission proceeds & marketing funds from agency and carrier partners
- Respond to agent inquiries regarding commissions and Spark billing
- Collaborate with accountants to ensure timely monthly closings and accurate reporting
- Build leadership reports on key financial metrics and KPIs
- Design and implement scalable workflows within the finance team to enhance operational efficiency
- Oversee agent billing and marketing co-op reimbursements, ensuring adherence to financial policies
Our take
Medicare is the national health insurance package for US citizens over the age of 65, with most people that seek to enrol in a plan making use of brokers to help them evaluate and select options. Spark is a technology company and “concierge” service that partners with independent Medicare brokers and provides a platform that helps them navigate and build retirement benefit packages for customers.
Handling the marketing, sales support, back office, and compliance requirements of Medicare brokering, Spark bridges the gap between insurance agents and their customers. The company already has partnerships with more than 100 leading Medicare agencies that represent over 3400 brokers, a good starting point from which to grow.
Agetech is a growing market, due to an aging population and longer lifespans, and Spark has benefitted from an increased demand and interest in Medicare brokering. Highlighting this is its 2024 raise of a $25 million Series B funding round that will support its future growth and product development.
