Who you are

5+ years of experience in DevOps
Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture principles
Deep understanding of AWS services and architecture
Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, pulumi)
Strong knowledge of security best practices in AWS cloud environments
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog)
Experience with serverless architecture and services (e.g., AWS Lambda)
Linux admin and basic shell scripting
Ability to work 3 days a week onsite in our London office

What the job involves

Updraft is an award winning, FCA-authorised, high-growth fintech based in London
Our vision is to revolutionise the way people spend and think about money, by automating the day to day decisions involved in managing money and mainstream borrowings like credit cards, overdrafts and other loans
Refine our infrastructure as code (Terraform) and associated CI/CD pipelines. Support developers in making changes going forward
Play a key role in introducing a culture of infrastructure as code and enforce through appropriate tooling
Critically review and where necessary enhancing our existing security stance
Work with the development team to introduce application-level observability solutions (e.g. CloudWatch, Datadog)
Optimise infrastructure to reduce our AWS costs
Ensure smooth running of handful of EC2 instances
Key Technologies: AWS (Lambda/Serverless), zappa, RDS, EC2, S3, Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, zappa

Updraft is an anti-debt financial app going after the £3bn spent on overdraft fees every year in the U.K.

The financial health app harnesses behaviour science, machine learning and open banking to guide users away from bad debt and late fees. The business also steps-in offering their own lower-interest ‘Updraft Credit’, driving revenue without hampering financial wellness.

The company has seen significant investment over 2022 and 23, having raised £380 million over those two years. This substantial capital from the likes of Natwest and Santander will help Updraft accelerate its customers' paths to debt zero. It is also developing new tools for its platform that will help turn users from borrowers into savers. To date, the platform has over half a million users and has helped pay off more than £225 million in overdraft and credit card debt.
