What the job involves
- We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow
- You will work on products that are part of the core infrastructure of our API, including:
- AuthZ/N: Proper authentication and authorization are vital for a financial product, and we provide a flexible solution for teams to use
- CI/CD: Besides automating integration and delivery, this product handles the regulatory obligations that Upvest must meet and has a high impact on the overall efficiency of the engineering department
- Test Tooling: we provide self-service and end-to-end tooling designed for functional testing of Upvest’s customer-facing APIs
- API Gateway: we manage and develop the microservice API gateway
- Shared libraries: as a development team, we curate and provide shared libraries that allow us to improve the developer experience for our partner teams
- The responsibilities are diverse, which keeps our daily work-life engaging
- Design and build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable systems using a microservice architecture powered by Docker, Kubernetes, LinkerD service mesh, and Kong as a gateway
- Take our internal platform initiatives to the next level by helping us to architect the right abstraction layers and implementing features used by many engineers
- Work on products backed by a diverse set of technologies, including HTTP and gRPC APIs
- Improving the reliability of our API tools and developing innovative new tools
- Collaborating with engineers on the team, as well as cross-functional stakeholders, to develop solutions for domains which are underserved by existing tooling

Our take
Upvest is a fintech startup that empowers financial services companies to provide their customers with access to a full range of financial assets, including stocks, ETFs and crypto products. Upvest's investment API integrates seamlessly with its customers existing systems and is designed to scale easily, freeing companies from the need to develop their own brokerage and custody infrastructure from scratch.
As one of the few companies in Germany that is licensed for both the custody of traditional securities and crypto, Upvest is able to provide its services across Europe. Its solution has been readily adopted by some major players in the space including Ginmon, Vivid and ABN AMRO.
Upvest is backed by a number of Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) alongside American investment monolith BlackRock. In 2023 it closed a VC investment round which the company has claimed is one of the largest in the German fintech arena. Its impressive capital raise will go some way to achieving Upvest's goals of profitability as it expands into the US market.
