Platform Engineer, Kraken.tech

• Strong software development experience in Python. TypeScript is a bonus
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS, and cloud-native services
• Experience with Terraform/OpenTofu or similar IaC tooling
• Hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows
• A strong interest in improving the productivity of fellow engineers, as developer experience is a key driver for our team
• Good communication skills, with the ability to work with developers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions
• The ability to work independently and be self-sufficient—we don’t micro-manage

Desirable

• The Platform Experience team builds developer and platform tooling that boosts productivity and supports self-service for product teams across Kraken
• As an Engineer on this team, you'll design, build, and maintain the platforms and tools that make it easier for engineers to ship code safely, efficiently, and reliably
• You'll partner with developers and other platform teams across the company to remove friction, improve automation, and enable self-service
• Build and maintain developer and platform tooling to improve operational efficiency and enable self-service. Some examples include:
• Kraken-cli – our internal CLI for AWS and Kubernetes authentication and a range of developer productivity features
• Cloudfarer – our in-house AWS SSO solution
• REEF – Kraken’s in-house Kubernetes distribution, built on EKS
• Create internal libraries, frameworks, and automation to reduce repetitive work for product teams
• Improve CI/CD pipelines (we use CircleCI), deployment tooling, and developer workflows
• Collaborate with product teams to understand their pain points and design 'golden path' experiences
• Help define and enforce best practices for infrastructure-as-code, cloud usage, and platform adoption
• Identify opportunities for automation and optimization across platform and developer workflows
• Upskill teams in using platform tools and services effectively
