Who you are
- 7+ years of healthcare business development or strategic partnership experience
- Experience working with payers, risk-bearing provider groups, population health programs, or value-based care organizations
- Strong understanding of healthcare economics and value-based care models
- Proven ability to build executive-level relationships and develop strategic partnerships
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
Desirable
- Experience selling clinical programs, medical devices, or healthcare services
- Familiarity with point-of-care diagnostics or imaging
- Experience engaging PACE programs, ACOs, or integrated delivery networks

What the job involves
- The Director, Value-Based Partnerships will lead business development efforts for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) programs with health plans, accountable care organizations, PACE programs, and other risk-bearing healthcare entities
- These programs enable earlier detection, faster clinical decision-making, and proactive management of patients in home and community settings
- Applications include heart failure monitoring and heart failure screening programs and other ultrasound-enabled care pathways designed to reduce avoidable hospitalizations and emergency department utilization
- The Director will develop partnerships that bring ultrasound-enabled clinical programs into value-based care environments through service models and population health initiatives
- As part of our team, your core responsibilities will:
- Develop and execute a growth strategy targeting payers, value-based provider groups, PACE programs and other risk-bearing entities
- Identify opportunities to deploy point-of-care ultrasound programs that support earlier diagnosis and proactive care management
- Lead the full partnership lifecycle from prospecting through contracting and program launch
- Work with partners to implement ultrasound-enabled clinical pathways that support population health goals
- Position programs as tools to help reduce avoidable hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and downstream healthcare costs
- Support use cases including heart failure screening and management
- Build relationships with leaders in population health, medical management, value-based care, and clinical operations
- Serve as a trusted partner helping organizations integrate ultrasound into care delivery workflows
- Support commercial opportunities across partner organizations
- Work closely with clinical, operations, and program teams to ensure successful program deployment
- Provide market feedback to help shape product and service offerings
Our take
Ultrasound machines are invaluable tools for clinicians, but remain inaccessible to many. This is due to existing machines relying on quartz-powered transducers and other specialized components, resulting in them being very large and expensive. Butterfly Network builds inexpensive and compact ultrasound technology in order to increase access to clinics across the US.
The company's device is around the same size as an electric razor, a design made possible by storing the ultrasound technology on a chip as opposed to a semi-conductor. Whilst Butterfly Network has not innovated the ultrasound process itself, it has found a unique gap in the market with this approach.
In addition to the device, Butterfly Network supplies image interpretation for a monthly cost. It also operates ''Butterfly Garden'', where medical device companies, virtual care companies, and AI developers can access its software development kit. This enables new applications to be created that support the innovation of ultrasound technology.
