What the job involves
- The Vice President of IT Operations is responsible for leading and managing the organization's IT operations, including infrastructure, corporate applications, IT service desk, hardware, telephony, knowledge base, Amelia/AiOps (internal utilization management), user support and training, self-service, and communications
- This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of the organization's IT systems and services, driving innovation and excellence across all IT operations
- Additionally, the role is responsible for cost control and contract management to optimize financial performance and ensure favorable contract terms
- Oversee and manage the organization's IT infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
- Lead and manage the support and development of corporate applications to meet the organization's needs
- Oversee the IT service desk to ensure timely and effective resolution of IT issues and incidents
- Manage and oversee the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of hardware to support the organization's IT operations
- Oversee telephony systems to ensure reliable and efficient communication within the organization
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base to support IT operations and improve self-service capabilities
- Manage the internal utilization of Amelia/AiOps to optimize IT operations and enhance efficiency
- Provide user support and training to ensure effective use of IT systems and services
- Develop and enhance self-service capabilities to empower users and improve IT support efficiency
- Oversee IT communications to ensure clear and effective dissemination of information to stakeholders
- Implement cost control measures to optimize financial performance and reduce IT operational expenses
- Negotiate, manage, and review IT contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance with contractual obligations
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices by developing and enforcing IT policies and procedures
- Collaborate with senior leadership, IT teams, and other key stakeholders to align IT operations initiatives with organizational goals and priorities
- Drive continuous improvement of IT operations practices, technologies, and processes to stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies
- Provide training, mentorship, and development opportunities to IT operations team members to enhance their skills and capabilities
- Understands the challenges facing the organization beyond the department
- Develops solutions in partnership with other department leaders to solve problems for their specific department or a bigger segment of the company
- Develops strategic plans for areas of responsibility based on corporate strategy
- Strategic decisions are critical to functional/area performance and likely have medium-term impact. Manages change and develops risk mitigation plans

The applications for top tier tech of this sort are vast, from automotive innovation through to restaurant management, and SoundHound is firmly leading the pack.
SoundHound has developed products with unrivalled accuracy across nearly two dozen languages, giving them a real edge over Google and Amazon’s competing products. To consolidate this lead, the company also made a number of strategic, big-name partnerships to broaden their products’ uptake, with the likes of Tencent, Hyundai, Nvidia, and Samsung counted among them.
By keeping its products customizable and broadly applicable, SoundHound was successful in its IPO bid, which will cement its position globally as the sector continues to develop. Although taking a hit from the poor economic climate, alongside many of its fellows, the company has secured post-IPO funds. It paid off its post-IPO debt in 2024, making it lighter on its feet as it captures new markets and customers in the voice-enabled AI sector.
