Who you are
- 3–5 years of experience in software testing, QA automation, site reliability, or a closely related role
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python
- Solid experience with manual and exploratory testing across mobile and web platforms
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or Cypress
- Experience with API testing using tools like Postman or REST Assured
- Familiarity with performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter or k6
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus
- Experience working with time-series databases (e.g. InfluxDB)
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and test verification
Desirable
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with version control using Git / GitHub / GitLab
- Knowledge of accessibility and usability testing standards
- Valid driver's license
What the job involves
- As a QA Automation Engineer for Mobile & Web, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our products - from test design through to end-to-end production monitoring
- You'll build automation, own application performance management, and work closely with our development and product teams to catch issues before they reach our users and keep production running smoothly
- Development and testing workflows will leverage Claude Code agent environments and we'll train you on advanced AI-assisted testing methodologies
- Build, maintain, and evolve automated and manual test suites for mobile (iOS/Android) and web applications, as well as APIs
- Perform API testing and validation of backend services using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar
- Conduct performance and load testing to identify system bottlenecks using JMeter, k6, or comparable tools
- Own end-to-end production monitoring and performance visibility
- Document, track, and prioritize defects, working closely with developers to reproduce, debug, and resolve issues
- Contribute to test plans, quality metrics, and release readiness assessments
- Collaborate with product, backend, and platform teams to improve testability and observability
- Work with AI-powered development and testing tools to improve efficiency and signal quality
Our take
Car-sharing provides a convenient and cost-effective alternative to car ownership, particularly in large cities where congestion is high and parking space is at a premium. Founded in 2016, MILES has made it easy for German and Belgian commuters to get around without owning a car or getting on a bus.
The German ride sharing sector is quite heavily contested, and while MILES is one of the larger providers it lacks the customer base of its primary rival SHARE NOW. Where it hopes to compete is in its pricing plan, which is measured by distance rather than minutes, providing a less pressured experience for its customers. So far this has worked well for the company, allowing it to multiply its revenue year on year and achieve profitability only four years after its founding. It currently serves more than 200,000 customers and has a fleet of over 13,000 vehicles.
MILES acquired the car sharing arm of Volkswagen in 2022 and integrated it into its own offering. Aside from increasing the size of MILES' fleet part of the deal allows VW customers to book cars through their existing VW mobility app, increasing MILES' customer base. MILES' is working to increase the electrification of its fleet, expand its market presence in Germany and Belgium, and develop new products for its customers such as longer-term rentals and city-to-city rides.
