Who you are
- 10+ years of accounting experience in both public and industry, with a solid understanding of GAAP and IFRS
- CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent strongly preferred
- Multi-entity, multi-geo, international expansion experience
- Ability to communicate effectively and partner with international and domestic personnel
- Multitasker, problem solver and succeeds in a fast-paced, growth environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
What the job involves
- Magic Eden is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Operations Lead to join our dynamic finance team.
- This pivotal role will oversee and manage the accounting operations across our global entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and seamless consolidation processes.
- The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in accounting, a strategic mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
- Responsible for the accounting entities close process including consolidation
- Prepare or review all monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis for all entities
- Manage the annual audits for applicable entities and oversee preparation of the statutory financial statements along with the statutory financial and tax books to US GAAP reconciliation and supporting documentation
- Develop, implement and monitor adherence to global and local accounting policies, processes, and controls
- Overseeing AP, expense reimbursement and payroll activities, as applicable
- Responsible for funding all subsidiaries as needed
- Support development of, and compliance with, the company's transfer pricing policies, including reconciling intercompany balances and ensuring settlements are paid accurately
Our take
The total volume traded in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is well over $50 billion, and they have revolutionized the way that creators can monetize their work. Magic Eden supplies a platform for trading NFTs, that is distinct for its focus on gamers and the internet community. As well as functioning as a marketplace, which is the base capability of many competitors, it also employs vertical integration of NFTs within the games it hosts on its platform.
This unique focus has primed Magic Eden for huge success - it moved from launch to Unicorn status in just 9 months and achieved ICO funding of $45 million in 2023. Although there are much larger NFT marketplaces, such as the market-controlling OpenSea, Magic Eden's incorporation of the Ethereum blockchain into its program (it initially only used the smaller Solana) indicates that it may be set to take on its older, more established competitors.
