Role
Who you are
- Over 5 years of experience building large-scale applications with Python
- A strong understanding of modular design approaches and SOLID principles, particularly in distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with building scalable and maintainable APIs and message-queuing concepts
- Proficiency in various test strategies, ensuring robust and reliable software solutions
- Solid understanding of fundamental relational database concepts
- Familiarity with structured logging systems
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and motivate technical ideas to both engineers and non-engineers
What the job involves
- At Veriff, our mission is to protect honest people online, and the Fraud Engineering team is central to achieving this goal
- We are looking for a skilled Senior Python Engineer to join this team, which focuses on detecting repeat fraud using machine learning models and delivering global risk assessments for fraudulent activities
- As part of this team, you will maintain and enhance our real-time Fraud Platform, focusing on security, scalability, and maintainability. Your role will be key in designing and developing systems that support Veriff's vision to build trust online with a reliable and secure platform
- Taking charge of the design, documentation, and validation processes for product and system development, ensuring top-notch quality and innovation
- Building, testing, and maintaining our automation services using Python, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our platform
- Collaborating closely with a diverse team of engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts, both within and outside the team, to tackle complex challenges and drive forward our vision for fraud prevention
- Owning and nurturing cross-functional partnerships, including working with engineering teams and product stakeholders, to align goals and strategies
- Mentoring and guiding the team, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary skills and aligned with our mission

Veriff started when the founder tried to access one of the worlds largest online marketplaces underage. He realised that, with some slight photo editing, he could easily break through their verification process. The company believes that identity is a valuable asset, and delivers real safety, protection and transparency to interactions online.
Veriff combines technical advancements in facial recognition, social ID, device ID and more into a SaaS model, that is easy to use and accessible to companies of all sizes. The service includes features such as real-time identity document verification, automated "Proof of Address" processes, and automated SSN Verification.
Veriff has continued to add to its offerings with new technologies and improvements. The considerable funds raised by the company in 2022 fuelled continued research and development, as well as enabling it to hire more talent into its team. Partnerships with the likes of SonoSuite, a digital tech provider for the music industry, indicate Veriff's continued expansion of its products into new markets.
