Who you are
- Join our team if you are passionate about analytics and data science and can use customer-centric, data-driven initiatives to improve game performance
- BS in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field; Masters, MBA or PhD preferred
- 5+ years of work experience in data analytics or data science roles
- Demonstrated skills in knowledge transfer and mentoring
- Strong experience in SQL and Python; Adept in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau
- Experience with some or all of the following: data mining, predictive modeling, statistics, experimental design, application development, computational analytics, econometric modeling
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Zynga’s Data Science and Analytics team uses our unique and expansive data to model and predict user behavior, making our games more personalized and more fun to play
- We continually strive to better understand our players, and provide them with experiences that
- As a member of the Central Analytics team, you will have the opportunity to build end-to-end scalable data-driven solutions to generate valuable insights and contribute to exciting, large-scale projects
- You will collaborate with Product Managers, Game Analysts, and Engineers to make a significant impact on our business
- Work with large amounts of data to find and lead opportunities to improve the experience that Zynga provides to its players
- Use our modern tech stack, Redshift, Databricks and PySpark, Airflow, and Tableau to develop innovative tools
- Technically engage with the analysts, data scientists, and game teams to provide data-driven insights and guidance with your strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Drive customer backed solutions, partnering with cross-functional teams; Own productionalization and adoption
- Translate functional requirement into technical solutions to business challenges
- Develop technological ideas and lead development into a final product
- Bolster customer trust and build technical knowledge through execution of ad hoc analyses of high business priority
- Adept at communication and collaboration across various functional areas within the organization
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
