Who you are
- 7+ years in product marketing, brand marketing, or strategic marketing within consumer marketplaces, e‑commerce, or retail with at least 3 years of PMM experience. Supply‑side (e.g., driver/shopper/host) experience is a strong plus
- Self-driven and resourceful: able to learn quickly, shape priorities based on high level guidance and deliver impact
- Builder’s mindset: you’ve taken a large initiative from 0-1 and you’re excited about building a team and ways of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to turn insights into positioning, messaging, and GTM that drive measurable outcomes
- Strong comfort with analytics and ability to use data to prioritize, experiment and pivot
- Excellent cross‑functional influence and communication—clear narratives, crisp briefs, and effective stakeholder alignment
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Product Marketing manager to evolve our seller experience and drive growth during an exciting era of evolution for our brand and business
- We are seeking a strategic Senior Product Marketing Manager to be the voice of the seller, drive quality supply growth, and bring new supply features and offerings to market — partnering closely with Product, Revenue, Merchandising, and Brand leaders
- As our founding PMM, you’ll also help define how PMM supports buyer initiatives over time
- You'll work with Product to understand the end‑to‑end seller journey and funnel; identify the highest‑leverage opportunities to attract new sellers and increase repeat selling and frequency
- Define seller segmentation, positioning, messaging, and channel strategy; codify a POV and playbook to ramp supply when needed
- Provide seller and marketing perspective on redesign of selling landing, educational and checkout pages to clearly communicate value props and most relevant, timely information
- Guide channel owners (CRM, paid, organic) to develop seller focused campaigns and lifecycle programs tied to supply goals
- Partner with Brand Marketing to plan seller‑first campaigns and integrate seller stories into broader brand moments
- Partner with Product to shape product direction with clear seller oriented value props; lead naming, packaging, launch tiering, and GTM plans
- Support copy and creative development for lightweight concept testing
- Orchestrate and support cross‑functional readiness (product experience, notification strategies, measurement) to ensure a high‑quality seller experience at launch and beyond
- Be the voice of the seller: drive qualitative and quantitative research to inform positioning, pricing/offer structure, and lifecycle strategy
- Maintain a competitive picture of supply‑side experiences; translate findings into risks, opportunities, and tests
- Evolve existing buyer‑focused tools and frameworks to include a robust seller perspective
- Establish strong relationships and ways of working with Product, Merchandising, and Marketing; set standards for briefs, launch tiers, and measurement
- Create frameworks and artifacts that can communicate strategic direction and build understanding and alignment around choices and tradeoffs
- Own and drive strategic marketing initiatives, programs and special projects to meet evolving business goals
- Hybrid work environment: 3 days in the office and 1 day remote each week

Over 40% of Gen Z consumers claim to have bought used clothing as opposed to 20% of Gen X and Boomers. Yet, despite this change in fashion trends, consumers must often rely on brick-and-mortar thrift stores and unregulated second-hand eCommerce marketplaces in order to access to find pre-owned clothing.
ThredUp provides an online marketplace for the buying and selling of secondhand fashionwear, offering affordable prices on discount clothing whilst promising a regulated and consistent approach to quality and cleanliness standards. The company acquires its clothing through sellers sending packages of clothing, which the company then sifts through to decide what is sellable and what should be returned.
The company went public in 2021 and immediately acquired Remix, a European second-hand fashion outlet, as part of its international expansion plans. It has however struggled to achieve profitability thanks to global economic turmoil and a glut of new clothing in the fashion industry causing prices to drop sharply. It is focusing on reducing its operating costs and expanding its storage capacity, and is expected by analysts to weather the current conditions in good form.
