Who you are
- You’re a true fullstack engineer — equally comfortable working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- You know your way around web development technologies like React, NextJS, and Prisma
- You’ve got solid experience (3+ years) building real products that scale and perform
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with AWS, Typescript, Netsuite SuiteScript and NodeJS — or you’re eager to dive deeper into them
- You don’t just build what’s asked — you're comfortable taking the wheel, thinking like a Product Manager, and helping steer where the platform should go
What the job involves
- We're a dynamic team looking for a sharp Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) to shape our internal systems and drive real impact across all our operations
- Collaborate directly with our Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Care, and Finance teams to grasp their challenges from the ground up. Expect to be involved in the full development lifecycle
- Take ownership and be passionate about delivering solutions that significantly impact our business
- Push for change instead of just accepting how things are. Bring your own thoughts and opinions to the table
- Use AI tools as a natural part of your daily workflow to speed things up and level up your work
- Value diverse perspectives and engage in constructive discussions - it's how the best ideas are born and how we keep moving forward
- Customize and extend our core internal IT systems (Shopify, Oracle Netsuite ERP, Intercom, Webflow) using Typescript, NextJS, and Temporal
Our take
As energy costs climb and environmental damage mounts, customers are looking for ways to heat and cool their homes while reducing their energy consumption. Since 2011, tado has provided smart thermostats and an easy-to-use interface for customers to control their home heating and cooling systems, allowing users to cut costs and carbon while still keeping their homes comfortable.
tado has grown strongly since its inception, and has been backed by major industry players such as Amazon, Siemens and E.On. In 2022, it revealed that it had sold 3 million smart thermostats since its founding. However, an IPO intended for 2022 did not go ahead, owing to headwinds in the tech sector and fears of global economic decline. tado responded by doubling down on its growth strategy, aiming to capture a larger market share before going public.
The company has raised funding which it will use to further scale the business by developing products able to take advantage of cheaper energy prices at certain times of the day, as well as developing partnerships with real estate companies to implement its solutions in new and existing builds. As long as it can ride out any further difficult market conditions, an IPO is likely in the not-too-distant future.
