Who you are
- This is a great opportunity for someone with a technical background who loves being client-facing
- Engineering background, with a CS degree or equivalent experience
- Comfortable working with code and infrastructure — you may not write production services day to day, but you can spin up an SFTP server, tweak a Python script, or make a SQL query
- Excellent communicator who can guide clients through technical setup and translate their needs to the engineering team
- Excited by the idea of improving the customer experience through a mix of software, process, and grit
- Collaborative and fun to work with — you bring positive energy to the team
- Experience with tools like AWS, Auth0, Pulumi, Python, PostgreSQL, or Retool is a plus but not required
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer to join the ModernFi team and help onboard financial institutions to our platform
- This role sits on the Engineering team and works across functions to ensure every client has a seamless and delightful technical onboarding experience
- You’ll set up infrastructure, configure integrations, communicate with partners, and build tooling to make the process better for everyone involved
- You’ll work directly with banks and credit unions, translate requirements between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and take the lead on key projects that unlock revenue and drive client success. You’ll also help shape how ModernFi scales onboarding as we grow
- We believe in hiring smart, curious people and giving them real ownership. You’ll work closely with our product and engineering teams, attend daily standups, and contribute to our culture of quality, autonomy, and fast execution
- Lead technical onboarding of new institutions to the ModernFi platform — from account setup to configuration, testing, and go-live
- Manage infrastructure setup for clients, including provisioning SFTP servers and keypairs with Pulumi
- Collaborate with bank IT teams to configure SSO in Auth0 based on their identity providers
- Coordinate onboarding for third-party digital banking integrations like Q2, serving as the glue between ModernFi, the client, and the partner
- Own and improve our public API documentation — making it easier for clients to integrate and showcasing our engineering-first approach
- Build tooling, dashboards, or internal features (using Python, Retool, etc.) that make your work more efficient and scalable
- Optimize our self-service onboarding tool by partnering with our CS team to intake client feedback and provide product suggestions or own immediate fixes
- Translate between technical and non-technical audiences with empathy and clarity

Rising interest rates and the recent collapse of prominent banks have triggered a mass exodus of deposits from smaller institutions. This "deposit runoff" has left community and regional banks scrambling to retain funds, impacting their growth and stability.
ModernFi offers an end-to-end deposit management platform to address this very issue. Its "deposit network" connects smaller banks with high-value depositors, facilitating deposit sourcing, automated fund sweeping, and enhanced security for depositors. This network acts as a lifeline for smaller banks, helping them attract and retain crucial funding.
Recent investment will fuel the company's expansion in several areas, with the ultimate goal of becoming a one-stop shop for bank CFOs, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions for managing the entire deposit lifecycle. With strong market demand and a clear roadmap for expansion, ModernFi appears well-positioned to navigate the shifting landscape of banking and become a vital resource for community and regional banks in the years to come.
