Role
Who you are
- 8–15 years of legal experience, with substantial focus on commercial contracts and SaaS/software industry
- Demonstrated experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm supporting high-growth technology companies
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. state
- Deep familiarity with B2B SaaS commercial transactions and privacy/data security frameworks
Desirable
- Experience as the first in-house legal hire or building legal process in a startup environment
- Background in corporate governance for private technology companies
- Prior exposure to venture financing, M&A, and employee equity plans
- Exceptional business acumen and ability to translate legal requirements into practical business solutions
What the job involves
- As the Director of Legal, you’ll be a foundational team member shaping the legal landscape at Doppel
- You will manage all aspects of commercial agreements and corporate compliance, ensuring that our business operations remain smooth and secure as we hyperscale
- The ideal candidate will deliver operational excellence and ensure a strong legal and control posture to enable the company to scale effectively and efficiently
- Lead negotiation, drafting, and review of all commercial agreements, including SaaS, vendor, and strategic partnerships
- Advise cross-functional teams on legal, compliance, and risk issues relating to contracts and commercial operations
- Support corporate governance, maintaining organizational records, cap table, and supporting board matters
- Develop and implement policies and trainings around contract management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
- Manage relationships with outside counsel for specialized needs (e.g., IP, employment, litigation)
- Monitor and interpret changes in relevant laws affecting Doppel’s business, proactively adapting company policies
Our take
While the NFT space is often one that is enticing to investors and traders, there are persistent issues with fraud in the market. Cybercriminals are able to pass off any image as their own intellectual property, and while NFT marketplaces do abide by copyright laws this kind of fraud can be hard to spot before money changes hands. The damage to a brand's reputation and customer trust can be hard to rectify.
Doppel exists to solve this problem. Using an AI model trained to spot fraud and IP violations, it indexes NFT data across most of the major blockchains and flags potentially fraudulent NFTs. Trusted by Opensea, Dapper and numerous other marketplaces, Doppel scans over 1.5 million NFTs daily and has identified over 100,000 threats in the marketplace.
Doppel has raised significant funding, its 2024 round is being used to develop its AI-driven platform further. While the NFT sector as a whole is going through a turbulent time, the applications of NFTs in new areas such as gaming and ticketing are not going unnoticed. Doppel wants to achieve continuous monitoring and rapid detection across more platforms, expanding its web and social media range into the dark web, crypto and encrypted messaging services like Telegram.
