Role
Who you are
- Wireless Technology Experience Essential
- Experience working in broadband technical support, networking, or an IT environment
- Strong understanding of basic networking principles: TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT, IP addressing, Wi-Fi fundamentals
- Exposure to fibre broadband, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), preferably Ubiquiti and/or MikroTik, is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret wireless metrics such as signal strength (RSSI) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
- Experience using CRM or ticketing systems to manage technical incidents
- Builds rapport with the customer and has credibility and trust through demonstrating a high level of both customer empathy and product knowledge
- You will diagnose and resolve customer connectivity issues across a modern and diverse network infrastructure
- Provide First Time Fixes wherever possible, applying technical knowledge and using diagnostic tools and management platforms
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers, delivering clear updates during the support process
- Collaborate with Network Operations, Field Engineers, Service Delivery, and other departments as required

What the job involves
- You will act as the first line of technical support for customers across our broadband services, with a focus on supporting fibre, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and Gigabit Wireless Broadband (GWB) technologies, including Ubiquiti and MikroTik platforms
Our take
The interconnected digital landscape of today has been augmented by the rapid speeds of fibreoptic broadband, which relies on the underground installation of large-scale fiber infrastructure. Whilst cities and towns across the UK have had such infrastructure installed across the last decade, rural locations are generally not covered, leaving them limited to traditional broadband speeds.
Voneus installs fibre optic and wireless broadband services across rural communities in England and Wales, installing the necessary infrastructure to offer full fibre and traditional wireless broadband services to small town and village populations.
Whilst the company will face significant competition from fibreoptic broadband giants such as Virgin Media, Voneus has recognised that such companies focus heavily on providing services to populous locations, leaving rural areas with limited internet access. Through its various internet package offerings, the company aims to democratise access to fast internet connection speeds to enhance the lives of rural communities in England and Wales.
