Who you are

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
3+ years of experience in software engineering
Professional experience with one of the following programming languages: Go, Java, Kotlin
Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

What the job involves

As an engineer reporting to the engineering manager on the Small and Micro Business Pay team, you'll help develop backend services that support our business payment solutions. You'll work with Go and AWS to create scalable, reliable, and efficient systems. We are looking for strong collaborator, who can work across team and roles with platform engineers, product managers, and other engineers. This is a Hybrid role (in office 2 times a week)
Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end systems for Remitly business customers
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to deliver customer-focused solutions that enhance trust and safety
Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and system design
Identify and resolve technical challenges, improving system performance, reliability, and maintainability

Since its inception in 2011 Remitly has focussed on helping immigrants to send money across the world faster, cheaper and easier. The company has grown exponentially since then and now operates across multiple continents. Remitly put down most of its success on putting its customers first.

The emergence of digital banks with low transaction fees cross-country has increased competition in a space where Remitly was dominant for many years. The company must continue to innovate its product to ensure it is the go-to place for these types of payments.

However, Remitly continues to partner with exciting companies and improve their service for loyal customers. The company is setting its sights beyond its core remittance service, such as through the recent introduction of Passbook, an app that allows customers to access digital banking through a partner bank.
