Who you are
- This role is for someone who is naturally inspiring, loves connecting with people, and pairs big-picture thinking with sharp execution
- 1–2 years of experience in community management, influencer/ambassador programs, or social media
- Experience managing a social media platform for a brand or organization; basic understanding of content creation and social media management
- Deep understanding of digital culture-Instagram, group chats, Reddit threads, or TikTok trends
- Executive presence; you have strong interpersonal skills and confidence speaking with, directing, and supporting both internal teams and external vendors/producers/platforms
- Excellent written communication skills; bonus if you’ve managed social channels, email marketing, or community platforms
- Highly organized and proactive-you thrive on checklists, timelines, and follow-through

What the job involves
- We're looking for a creative, community-obsessed operator to run one of our most exciting programs, RTR Muse: a thriving network of hundreds of customers who obsess over our brand, and harness that love to create content, increase share of voice and drive business growth
- You'll be the face of the program to our members, the connective tissue between marketing channels and internal stakeholders, and the person who keeps a community of brand advocates engaged, motivated, and creating
- The content you unlock will show up in paid ads, email, social, and across our site — your work has direct, visible impact on how this brand shows up in the world
- Manage day-to-day operations of a scaled UGC program with a network of hundreds of members, including sourcing, onboarding, outreach, communications, and ongoing engagement
- Execute retention and engagement strategies to keep members active and posting, monitoring participation trends and identifying opportunities to improve the member experience, including how members are recognized, rewarded, and moved through engagement tiers
- Manage the @RTRMuse social handles and support member visibility across @RenttheRunway, showing up in the comments, responding to UGC, and building the kind of community presence that makes people excited to be part of the program
- Partner with cross-functional teams to place and syndicate content across paid, site, email, and other channels; securing rights and clearances and ensuring content reaches the right audiences at the right moments in the funnel
- Coordinate with Muse members on logistics and appearances for @RenttheRunway social shows
- Coordinate incentive and rewards processes, working with finance and accounting to track payouts and reconcile program spend
- Maintain program tools, workflows, tracking systems, and templates to keep operations running efficiently
- Track and report on program performance (volume, quality, engagement), sharing regular updates with stakeholders and surfacing recommendations for improvement — including supporting compliance and legal requirements related to content rights and member agreements
Our take
Rent the Runway seeks to profit from two important trends in apparel consumption: wanting to stay on top of the latest fashion trends while living and purchasing sustainably. By providing a platform for women to rent designer pieces, its users can have it all.
The company allows users to rent, subscribe, or buy designer apparel and accessories. It achieves this with its network of partnerships with hundreds of top designers and managing the crucial but complicated logistics in-house. It offers its partnered brands sophisticated analytics about potential customers in return for lower prices on designer garments.
Rent the Runway is now focused on diversifying revenue streams while reducing its costs. Its recent partnership with Amazon is an example of this new direction: while it will use this channel to sell clothes previously rented through its platform, it will, for the first time, be selling new clothes based on rental items modified in line with market data.
While moves such as this may well shift Rent the Runway towards profitability, it also risks undercutting the company's central message of sustainability and supporting the circular economy. The company believes that by creating better quality clothing, it will nonetheless be aiding in the fight against fast fashion. Time will tell if this move helps or hinders the sustainability movement, but it is likely to boost Rent the Runway's bottom line regardless.
