Role
Who you are
- You have strong written communication skills and are able to develop strong working relationships with coworkers and business partners
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Recent Ruby experience is required
- Bonus if you have experience with Postgres, GraphQL, React, Node, Javascript

- Might have experience working remotely alongside a distributed software engineering team

What the job involves
- You will work within a distributed team of 4-5 software engineers and cross-functional partners including product, design, algorithms and operations
- You will be working on customer facing systems in the Loyalty and Incentives space, creating the future of how Stitch Fix’s clients browse and buy merchandise at Stitch Fix
- We operate in an agile-inspired manner, collaborating across multiple time zones
- Operate as an engaged member of the engineering team - participating in Sprint ceremonies, providing input on technical design documents & project plans, pairing with other engineers to work toward a solution, etc
- Collaborate with stakeholders while participating in the technical discovery, decision-making, and execution of complex and/or critical projects within the team
- Model consistently delivering sustainable results against measurable goals
- Proactively communicate status updates or changes to the scope or timeline of projects to stakeholders and leadership
- Actively engage in professional development and growth
- Find new and better ways of doing things that align with business priorities
- Influence other engineers toward alternative solutions
- Participate in on-call rotations and improving the on-call experience for others
- Write and review code in Ruby, JavaScript, and CSS used in applications built in Rails or React
Our take
Shopping online for clothes is not always a fun experience. Finding clothes you like is only half the battle. Sizing guides and return policies seem to have been designed to be challenging to understand, and can also vary wildly from company to company.
Stitchfix sets out to change this by making online clothes shopping personalized and hassle-free. Customers take a survey on their personal tastes, and pay a one-off fee for a stylist, to receive a box of 5 personalized items. Then, they simply pay for any items they keep, or return what they don't want free of charge.
Stitchfix's unique blend of technology and human touch allows the company to deliver its personalized experience at scale. Unfortunately, this once exciting brand has been hit hard by economic trends, cutting back staff and shutting down UK operations entirely. Only time will tell if it can bounce back and find success again in the future.
