Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 2-4 years of professional software development experience
- Proven ability to deliver complete features from design through deployment
- Backend Development: Proficiency in Node.js
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- API Development: Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
- Databases: Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization
- Version Control: Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Understanding of serverless architecture and containerization concepts
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and logging tools
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code principles
Desirable
- AWS Expertise: Experience with Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, RDS, DynamoDB
- Authentication & Security: Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, and cloud security best practices
- Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development
- Frontend Integration: Understanding of frontend-backend integration patterns
- Documentation: Strong technical writing and documentation skills
What the job involves
- ThinkCyber, a growing start-up, seek a Backend Software Developer to join our growing development team. You'll work collaboratively with senior developers while taking ownership of backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. This role offers opportunities to work across the full development lifecycle in a modern cloud-native environment
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and microservices
- Build and optimize serverless functions and cloud-native applications
- Implement database solutions and write efficient queries for both SQL and NoSQL systems
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system reliability
- Collaborate on architecture decisions and contribute to technical documentation
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards
- Support deployment pipelines and ensure security best practices
- Within 3 months, you'll be contributing to existing services and taking ownership of smaller features. Within 6 months, you'll be designing and implementing new backend services independently while collaborating effectively with the broader engineering team
