Who you are
- 15+ years of total experience with increasing levels of responsibility including people management
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high energy and initiative - with a proven ability to manage significant initiatives across the organization, as well as develop and motivate staff
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Expert in technical accounting issues
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, excellent soft-skills, and ability to motivate and influence all levels of management
- Experience with M&A due diligence and purchase accounting preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or equivalent required
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to oversee all SEC reporting, resolve various complex technical accounting issues and act as a key resource for internal stakeholders
- Reporting to the Controller, the role will be a key leadership position in the Finance organization, interacting and coordinating with colleagues in Finance & Strategy, Tax, Corporate Development and various other departments across the Company to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial results
- Provide leadership, support and professional development opportunities to the growing technical and reporting accounting team
- Manage the reporting and filing process for SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K, and other external reporting requirements
- Lead the technical accounting team in researching, communicating and resolving complex accounting matters. Provide technical accounting guidance to cross functional partners across finance and the company
- Lead all policy initiatives, including the implementation of new accounting standards. Ensure internal Robinhood accounting policies are maintained and up to date
- Continuously monitor, document and communicate new accounting standards to the entire organization and determine their impact on the company
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives, including product launches, new revenue models, or structural reorganizations, ensuring accounting impacts are proactively addressed
- Participate in audit committee meetings, including the presentation of required communications
- Organize and lead quarterly disclosure committee meetings
- Manage the relationship with external auditors. Act as the key point of contact between the auditors and internal finance teams
- Support due diligence and the integration of M&A deals. Lead the purchase price and opening balance sheet accounting
- Represent reporting and technical accounting in special projects such as finance transformation and automation initiatives
- Develop a culture of mentorship, continuous improvement, training and success in the accounting organization
