Role
Who you are
- Proven experience in a CRM management role, ideally within gaming or a fast-paced digital environment
- 1–3 years of experience in digital marketing, ideally within games or entertainment
- Hands-on experience with a CRM or email marketing platform (e.g. Braze, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar)
- Some exposure to paid digital channels (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, or similar)
- Comfortable interpreting campaign performance data and working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Tableau
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional working
What the job involves
- As Junior Digital Marketing Specialist, you'll play a key role in CIG's marketing team, primarily owning the CRM channel while also supporting on wider digital marketing activity including paid media and performance reporting
- Working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, you'll help drive player acquisition, engagement, and retention across our PC titles
- Own the end-to-end delivery of CRM email campaigns from brief through to deployment and reporting, including A/B testing to optimise performance across channels and creatives
- Plan and execute retention, re-engagement, and monetisation campaigns — spanning go-to-market launches, major updates, and ongoing player lifecycle activity
- Support the Digital Marketing Manager on paid media campaigns across Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, and Reddit, including asset briefing and development in collaboration with the creative team
- Track, analyse, and report on key performance metrics across CRM, paid media, and player behaviour, translating data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the community and social teams to keep messaging aligned with player sentiment, while staying close to competitor activity and trends in the PC gaming space
Our take
Cloud Imperium Games is an independent game company that specializes in immersive storytelling. It is currently developing a highly anticipated PC space simulation game, Star Citizen, initially funded by a crowdfunding campaign, as well as Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player sidekick to Star Citizen staring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.
Originally announced in 2012 and 2014, neither title has received an official release date. The appeal for backers, who have contributed over $500 million to the crowdfunding campaign, is that the games exist outside the norms of modern game development, and that the company seems to have stuck to its initial plans and trajectory rather than adapting towards an earlier release.
The company announced plans to increase operations and headcount across the years from 2022 to 2027, which could suggest a release date at the end of this 5-year plan. The fans remain engaged for now, but the company runs the risk of frustrating and alienating their donators and target audience the longer they have to wait. And bad press surrounding management at the company is unlikely to help.
