Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of experience in Strategic Business Development, Corporate Development, Venture Capital, or a related field
- Proven track record in structuring and negotiating high-value strategic deals
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align partnerships with company goals
- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambiguity
- Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Enjoy working in a fast paced, collaborative and dynamic start-up environment as part of a small team
- Willing to occasionally travel, up to 40% time
- Must have and maintain US work authorization

What the job involves
- We are seeking a VP of Strategic Business Development to drive high-impact partnerships and corporate development initiatives. This individual will be responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing strategic deals that accelerate growth and create long-term business value
- Identify & Secure High-Value Partnerships: Proactively seek out and evaluate strategic opportunities, including revenue-sharing models, co-marketing/selling partnerships, and bi-directional acquisitions. Think creatively, continuously scanning the horizon for deep collaboration opportunities
- Build & Execute Strategic Deals: Lead negotiations and execution of complex agreements that drive significant business impact
- Be the Bridge Between Vision & Execution: Work closely with executive leadership to assess, prioritize, and act on partnership opportunities that align with long-term company strategy
- Create a Systematic Approach to Growth: Develop a structured process for identifying and pursuing strategic initiatives. Maintain global awareness of industry trends and organizational shifts that may be indicative of new opportunities
- Leverage Industry Networks: Engage with key stakeholders to unlock new revenue channels and long-term collaborations
- Lead & Grow a Strategic Partnerships Function: Potentially oversee a small team as the function scales
Our take
Cobot is a robotics manufacturer setting out to incorporate robots into our everyday, having them work alongside us in all walks of life. It is building a collaborative robot named "Cobot", but so far remains mysterious by not disclosing any details as to what exactly it will be. It has, however, explained that its robotic systems will be neither humanoid or a mobile manipulator, instead focussing on the synergy between humans and robots - hence the titular nod to collaboration.
Collaborative robots are expected to account for about 10% of total industrial robot sales by 2025, so Cobot's target could certainly be a lucrative one. Founded in 2022, the company has already caught attention for its "Flywheel Program", that delivers hands-on experience with robotics deployments for its clients' teams.
The company is initially looking to target sectors such as bio-tech, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing and it’ll be exciting to see how this grows as the company scales. It’s still early days for Cobot, and though all the talk behind the project is thrilling, we will have to wait to see if the product lives up to both ambitions and its impressive funding rounds.
