- The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, problem-solving, and financial skills, along with experience in a manufacturing environment
- You have at least 8+ years of finance and accounting experience, with increasing levels of leadership and responsibility; experience in the energy sector or hardware/manufacturing industry a plus
- You have at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- Your previous roles demonstrate extensive knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
- You have a proven track record of developing and implementing internal controls and process improvements in a startup environment
- You operate with a high level of integrity, discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
- You have strong analytical and logical skills, and you are adept at interpreting complex financial data to inform strategic decisions
- You have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of staff and with external stakeholders

What the job involves

- This position offers the opportunity to build, develop, and manage the corporate accounting function from the ground up at a company at the forefront of energy innovation
- This position will be based at VEIR’s headquarters in Woburn, MA, and report directly to the CFO
- Develop strong working relationships across the organization and quickly build trust and credibility with VEIR leadership and other critical internal stakeholders, including Commercial and Engineering
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP standards
- Scope and recommend the company ERP system
- Drive auditor selection process and audit preparations
- In collaboration with the CFO, Finance Manager and other team leaders, implement inaugural company ERP system
- Prepare internal processes and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors
- Collaborate with tax advisors to ensure compliance with all tax laws
- Support the Finance Manager and CFO in clearly communicating financial performance and trends to C-Suite and Board of Directors
- Develop and implement internal controls process and risk management strategies
- In collaboration with the CFO, lead the Treasury function and capital investment initiatives
- Collaborate with the commercial and engineering teams to ensure troubleshoot and build scalable processes
- Provide strategic support to key business initiatives and investment
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Our take
Our extensive use of technology in everyday life has created strain on the power grid and the climate. Veir offers a solution that adds capacity to our electric grid with limited harm to the environment, by building novel superconducting power lines.
Veir’s transmission lines use High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based technology to reach clean energy goals, whilst simultaneously transmitting 5-10x more power than conventional power lines, that aren’t able to keep up with growing energy demands.
Energy transmission expansion is something many companies are trying to tackle, but Veir’s creation of the first overhead superconductor technology with a cooling speciality places it as a strong contender in the market. Several rounds of funding have allowed the company to develop the product to where it is today and also attract a strong customer base.
