Role
Who you are
- You have 2-4 years of risk experience, preferably with a regulated fintech company or US bank
- You have keen project management skills and are able to coordinate people, documents, deadlines and regulatory requirements
- You are able to understand complex challenges and convert them into structured solutions, which are actionable for both internal and external stakeholders
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey clear updates and progress to leadership
- You have solid interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with both internal and external stakeholders from varying disciplines and cultures
- This role is based out of our New York or San Francisco office. We have a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles
What the job involves
- Our fast-paced North America Regulatory Team is looking for a Regulatory Product Specialist to provide oversight and assistance to Adyen’s established and future product and service offerings
- As a Regulatory Product Specialist, you will be working across various functions and teams in order to assess and document any regulatory product risks, build out regulatory frameworks for Adyen’s products, and be a voice for second line regulatory risks
- This helps our North American commercial and product teams to manage risk, identify opportunities, and deliver on Adyen’s offering of exceptional products and services

- Project manage the implementation of regulatory obligations for new products and features and implement risk-based policies and procedures
- Create and maintain a framework in which requirements are incorporated, which form the basis of the implementation into the technology stack
- Collaborate with Product Streams to translate regulatory requirements into product development, prioritize them and safeguard accurate implementation
- Organize and coordinate the deliverables of Product Streams towards the regulatory subteams
Our take
Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.
Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
