Who you are
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 8+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
Desirable
- 10+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers
- Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals
What the job involves
- Your role as a Solutions Architects helps organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and provide advice on strategies for migrating existing workloads to the cloud
- You’ll help drive successful business outcomes across a broad set of enterprise customers through your passion for educating, training, designing and building cloud solutions
- As a trusted customer advocate, you are responsible for guiding organizations in adopting advanced cloud-based solutions and migrating their workloads to the cloud
- You'll be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to build mindshare and increase adoption of AWS
- You should be able to interact and communicate effectively with various teams at AWS, including services, marketing, and professional services, while also representing your own team to executive management
- Design and architect end-to-end cloud solutions for complex customer requirements, making technical trade-offs and evaluating architectures for scale while ensuring solutions are extensible, reusable, secure, reliable, cost-optimized, and performant
- Build and maintain relationships with customer senior leaders, understanding their business objectives and technical challenges to influence strategic direction and ensure technology decisions will meet long-term business outcomes
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences, creating technical content that is easily adopted and reusable by others while harmonizing discordant views to build consensus
- Lead technical discussions and dive deeply into technical details with customer teams across application architecture, system design, and implementation considerations, proactively identifying gaps and opportunities
- Drive effective customer feedback gathering, distilling and translating feedback into clear business and technical requirements for product and engineering teams while contributing to reference designs and reusable artifacts

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.
More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.
Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
