Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have experience working in an evolving startup environment

- Minimum 7 years of experience in employee relations, HR, or labor law, with global experience
- Strong knowledge of employment law and best practices in the US, with the ability to navigate complex, multi-country issues
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, global organization is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence work behaviours and build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Proven expertise in stakeholder management, effectively managing relationships with senior leadership, business partners, and external parties
- Experience in managing sensitive employee relations matters with a high degree of confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism
- Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities, and provide strategic advice under pressure
- Strong cultural awareness and the ability to adapt approaches to different countries and regions within the US
- Demonstrates problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to data gathering and root cause analysis. Possesses intellectual curiosity; brings insight into the team/business

What the job involves
- As we continue to globally scale, we are seeking a dedicated Employee Relations Manager to support our teams in North America, ANZ, APAC, and Mexico
- This role will be key in ensuring a positive and productive work environment, fostering open communication, and ensuring compliance with labor laws globally
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues across all areas of the organization, including the People Team (performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, etc.), ensuring compliance with local laws and consistency in policy application
- Advise leadership on strategies to foster a positive, inclusive work environment, addressing concerns before they escalate
- Lead internal investigations on workplace issues, ensuring compliance and legal review, and preparing necessary documentation with a focus on issue resolution
- Proactively collaborate with our legal team and external counsel to monitor and anticipate changes in labor laws, ensuring that the company’s policies remain up-to-date and legally compliant. Provide strategic guidance on legal implications and actively manage risks in employee relations cases
- Own, define, and develop key HR policies such as performance management, disciplinary processes, and related procedures, ensuring these processes are scalable and adaptable to the evolving needs of the organization. This includes the design and delivery of training on employee relations topics like conflict resolution, performance management, and compliance, targeted at HR teams and managers
- Track and manage employee relations cases, reporting on trends, outcomes, and actionable insights to HR leadership to improve practices across the region
- Evaluate global and region-specific approaches to employee relations, balancing cultural nuances while maintaining consistency
- Own all PiP management in the US, ANZ, APAC, and Mexico, ensuring an equitable approach
- Provide practical Employee Relations advice that realistically addresses and balances the needs of the business
Our take
In recent years, electric-powered mobility companies have attracted an extraordinary amount of interest and funding, in part due to rising eco-friendly sentiment, and in part because of the race to "find the next Uber". Lime is one such company, that has rapidly scaled across multiple geographies to be a key player in the fight for market leadership.
Lime, along with its competitors, has had to grapple with regulation in many of its target markets, but nonetheless has steadily increased its footprint. Since its launch, the company has facilitated millions of trips, making it one of the biggest companies of its kind. Interestingly, the CEO has stated that "cars are our true business rivals—not other scooter companies", suggesting that its biggest business challenge will be to get families to give up their second cars.
With a presence that spans an impressive number of regions - in 2023, Lime began operating in Qatar - the company has cemented itself in the micromobility market and stands to profit from the increasing popularity of these types of services. A substantial increase in ridership enabled Lime to achieve "free cash flow positivity" two years in a row, with suggestions it will pursue a US IPO in 2027.
