Who you are

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
4+ years of professional experience in embedded software development and test automation
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, with strong grounding in object-oriented programming
Skilled in Git and modern version-control workflows, within collaborative, multi-developer environments
Proven track record designing and implementing comprehensive test suites, including unit, integration, regression, and large-scale Monte Carlo tests
Solid experience implementing modular and maintainable software architectures
Experience with RTOS environments with real-time constraints
Familiarity with multithreaded programming and synchronization techniques

Desirable

Experience with Matlab/Simulink, model-based simulation environments, including MIL, SIL, and/or HIL
Background in satellite flight software, GNSS data processing, attitude estimation, control systems
Familiarity with modern development and operations tooling, such as Docker, JFrog Artifactory, Grafana dashboards, the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket)or similar platforms

What the job involves

We are looking for a rigorous and versatile Senior Software Engineer to join our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) team
You will take a central role across the full GNC software stack – from embedded GNC flight software running on orbit, to high-fidelity simulation environments, to the associated test and validation frameworks that ensure mission success
You will collaborate closely with the GNC, flight software, and assembly, integration, and test (AIT) teams
This position is based in our Saratoga, CA office
Translate prototypes and software specifications for GNC estimation and control algorithms into production-ready flight software
Develop and maintain high-fidelity closed-loop simulation environments (MIL, SIL, HIL), implementing software models for dynamics, perturbations, actuators, and sensors behavior from prototypes
Build and maintain robust and scalable test and validation infrastructure for GNC flight software, including automated CI/CD pipelines, regression suites and Monte Carlo simulations
Contribute to system-level AIT and support in-orbit operations of mission-critical satellite software
Uphold best practices in code quality, documentation, and configuration management within a collaborative, multi-developer environment

Our take

Designed with a vision to democratize space, E-Space will provide custom networks for companies and governments so that entities can access space without high costs but with zero trust topology for cybersecurity.

Critics will look for the cost this sort of project will have on the environment but E-Space has built sustainability into every aspect of the business. The satellites are designed to actively and sacrificially capture and deorbit small debris in space whilst the constellation will be launched into small cross sections to reduce vulnerability to collisions.

Following the company’s ‘Beta 1’ launch of its test satellites as well as the second ‘Beta 2’ launch, the company is exploring mass production. E-Space also acquired CommAgility and intends to integrate its source code into a network of potentially hundreds of thousands of connectivity satellites.
