Role
Who you are
- 9+ years of experience in professional software development
- Experience and confidence working with modern Front End development practices
- Experience working in and shipping features inside an established, complex codebase
- Experience developing creative tools and working with graphics libraries is a plus
- Ability to lead projects and feature development from definition through implementation
- Ability to communicate complex concepts with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficient in building consensus among collaborators and peers
- Exposure to full-stack development, including familiarity in designing APIs, working with databases, and monitoring application performance
- Proficient in leveraging AI tools (Coding agents, LLMs, etc.) as part of your workflow
- Experience in Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or Go are all pluses
What the job involves
- Paperless Post is seeking an expert JavaScript developer to help architect and maintain our Front End application with more than five million unique visitors per month
- In this role, you’ll work within a dedicated and fully staffed feature team to build and maintain user-facing features and libraries that are essential for cross-functional development teams
- You will work with React, Redux, and NextJS to build a robust platform and suite of creative tools for helping our users and admins create beautiful event pages, greeting cards, and custom media
- You’ll use your experience building performant user-focused web applications to deliver exceptional software across device types and platforms
- Your contributions will make a meaningful impact to a complex consumer product and be used by millions of users
- Maintain and implement a web-based editor and suite of creative tools for dynamic webpage construction, used by our users and in-house content team
- Contribute to a React (NextJS) and GraphQL codebase that is peer-reviewed and part of our continuous deployment pipeline
- Actively participate in developing useful API contracts between Front End and Back End
- Coordinate between technical leads on best practices and align on implementation strategies
- Work closely with Product Management and Product Design to communicate new feature designs to other members of the team
- Work closely with stakeholders on the team to arrive at the priorities and requirements the team will proceed with

Paperless Post first launched in 2009, and since then it has become a clear market leader in a field cluttered with fairly simple design and printing tools. Part of its success stems from its early adoption of mobile phones as a platform - while initially optimized for desktop use the company worked hard to develop its platform for mobile users. This has allowed Paperless Post to consolidate its growth in spite of market changes over the years.
Paperless Post is well-positioned to see considerable growth. It will need to continue to develop its partnerships and technology in order to fend off new competitors, however. Its unique designs and partnerships with brands such as Caroline Herrera go some way to achieving this, and its understanding of communication trends: switching to text message notifications rather than email as younger people abandon email as a way to communicate - indicate that the company is still ahead of the curve.
