Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes Drupal
- If you’ve ever stayed up late tweaking module configurations or silently judging websites for CSS that cascades like a rockslide instead of a waterfall, you’ll fit right in
- Bonus points if you’ve got an eye for clean code, an obsession with responsive design, and a knack for squashing bugs without breaking a sweat—or the site
- 5+ years of PHP development experience
- 3+ years of experience working with open-source enterprise content management platforms (Drupal, Joomla, etc.)
- Strong knowledge in both front- and back-end, including component and theme development
- Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, MYSQL, JavaScript, and jQuery
- An open and effective communicator across multiple levels of an organization—and the ability prioritize and set expectations as needed
- Experience working across multiple levels, teams, and geographies in fast-paced and deadline-driven situations
Desirable
- Experience working on high-performing web development teams, with a track record of delivery and quality
- Hands-on experience with tools for project management Asana
- Previous experience working with global websites, with a deep understanding of Drupal translations and multi-site management
- Experience with Google Analytics, GTM, and other analytics tools
What the job involves
- The Marketing Web Developer will help manage and improve the world's most trafficked education website, and one of the top 20 most visited sites globally
- You’ll be in charge of building, configuring, and customizing our Drupal sites, working closely with a broad range of departments, including creative, content, analytics, demand generation, product marketing, international marketing and other key stakeholders
- As the maestro of our web symphony, you’ll orchestrate flawless designs and ensure every code push is smoother than a Kenny G sax solo
- Manage and maintain the Drupal web environment for instructure.com and affiliated properties
- Partner with marketing stakeholders to define requirements for new page / component development
- Built or managed a website using Layout Builder components
- Work closely with web producers to ensure pages are implemented correctly
- Quickly address and resolve any bugs / defects identified

Instructure is an education technology company, creator of the Canvas Learning Management Platform that allows schools to build the digital learning environment that meets the unique challenges faced by their institution. The platform simplifies teaching, elevates learning, and eliminates the headaches of supporting and growing traditional learning technologies.
The Canvas platform has grown to become a key part of a large number of educational institutions, from pre-school to higher education and beyond. Much of Instructure's workforce is dedicated to R&D, which is unusual for a company of their size, and shows their focus on innovating.
Founded back in 2008, the company has claimed numerous successes, including going international and hitting the $1 billion market cap. It has made a number of acquisitions, most recently of Concentric Sky and LearnPlatform. The former saw Instructure incorporate Sky's "Badgr" into its ecosystem as "Canvas Badges", whereas the latter adds evidence-based insights to the platform - both cementing its commitment to building the education industry's most integrated teaching and learning platform to support lifelong learning.
Instructure was itself acquired in 2024 by KKR, which will support a broad-based equity ownership program for Instructure employees. This strategy is based on a strategy of employee ownership as a cause of stronger companies. The move is a promising one considering KKRs track record of acquired companies, but time will tell how Intructure fares.
