- 5+ years of relevant experience in a legal operations or legal business management role (in-house experience strongly preferred)

- Technical aptitude and demonstrated success selecting, implementing, and optimizing legal tech tools (e.g., CLM, e-billing, legal AI tools)
- Expertise in budgeting, reporting, and outside counsel management
- Skilled communicator who can translate complex legal workflows into business-friendly tools and processes
What the job involves
- Evolv is seeking a strategic, tech-savvy, and experienced Head of Legal Operations & Program Management to join the Legal Team of a mission-driven company with industry-disrupting technology
- This is a pivotal role with a broad spectrum of responsibilities
- The right candidate will be energized by shaping the Legal Team’s strategy, managing legal budget, and identifying and implementing new legal technologies to help maximizes efficiency
- You will also work cross-functionally across a diverse team of stakeholders in your management of several key legal programs
- Your proactive and solution-oriented approach will be valued as you help shape the future of the legal function, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and integrity
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization while maintaining the highest standards of legal quality and compliance
- Oversee legal technology strategy and implementation—including CLM (Ironclad), matter management, process automation, and knowledge management
- Evaluate and implement systems to streamline legal workflows and scale legal support across the organization
- Manage outside counsel engagement, budgets, and billing processes
- Stay current on legal operations trends and emerging technologies
- Apply project management rigor to drive execution, accountability, and transparency
- Partner with the General Counsel and other Legal Team members to manage operational components of the Ethics & Compliance program
- Lead high-priority legal department projects from design to implementation
- Lead strategic planning and quarterly/annual goal setting across the Legal Team
- Act as an operational partner to the General Counsel, including preparation of materials for executive and board-level legal updates
- Ensure cross-functional alignment on priorities, resource planning, and project execution
- Monitor and track progress against department goals, proactively surfacing risks and opportunities
- This role reports to the General Counsel and offers a unique opportunity to help build a Legal Operations function, as well as contribute substantively to key compliance programs
- You will be a trusted thought partner to the Legal Team and business stakeholders, helping elevate the function as a true enabler of business success
Our take
Security screening systems are essential within venues such as concert halls, schools, and workplaces, but there are several problems with existing solutions. For example, lengthy queues and physically intimidating security checkpoints can taint visitor experiences, as well as cause congestion due to their inefficiencies.
Evolv Technology develops AI-driven screening systems, aiming to remove the tension, intimidation, and friction associated with security screening. It does this with a smart touchless screening sensor for weapon detection called Evolve Edge, in addition to an all-in-one venue security analytics platform called Evolv Express.
Whilst the company does face competition from similar security solutions at high-risk locations such as airports, its ability to serve a wide range of venues helps it stand out. It is no doubt Evolv has the ability to make spaces safer, though its past claims it made them "weapon-free" was challenged by a recent failure of its system to detect knives. It does, however, continue to innovate on its offering, and remains an attractive option in the space.
